How can I know that my vista is genuine copy or not? Please help....

First, you'll need to either purchase a genuine copy of Windows XP (these are getting very difficult to find, because Microsoft has withdrawn this software from marketing; so, you'll need to find a small computer-store that may still have a copy on its shelves). Or, start with a "non-genuine" copy of Windows (and hope that it's not already virus-infected) and then when it is detected as being "non-genuine", then use your credit-card to purchase a "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation" kit, to convert your "bootleg" version into a "genuine" version.

Then, you'll have to be aware that Toshiba may _NOT_ have created device-drivers for your computer for Windows XP. It's possible that some of your components (wireless, video, sound, network) will _NOT_ work, due to the "missing" device-drivers.

You'll be much further ahead if you upgrade to Windows 7, which addresses many of the issues that were problematic in Windows Vista.

The fact that you have a pirated version of Windows and your operating system has stopped working means you don't need any anti virus software.

If you want a free operating system there are many variants of Linux out there which are free!

Check that your OS(xp,vista,win 7) is genuine If not buy a original new one from microsoft.
Check that your McAffee copy genuine(not cracked) If not buy a original new one from McAffee.
If your os is original try
Update your windows copy by click UPDATE from control panel.,

If you have no support discs & did not make a recoverty disc then you will have to contact the retailer you purchased the laptop from or Acer themselves. You should have documentation that will detail your product key though without this you may have issues getting the genuine copy of vista reinstalled. An alternative would be to buy a copy of windows 7 (if your laptop can take it) as it is far more stable & streamlined than Vista. or get a genuine copy of XP for cheaper.

Its probably also a good idea to take it back to the local computer guy & demand he reinstalls vista or gives you a genuine copy of XP. You can report him to the police for distributing illegal software too.

You need to get a genuine Product Key.

Unless you can find and verify you have an orignal CD there is nothing you an do but buy another license for th use of Vista. If you made a back up set up. Have yo ulooked at the bottom of the laptop. Most of the time it has the Vista sticker with the key for your windows use. reinstall and use that key.

If it's saying that then am afraid its correct.
Windows has a program that can check the authenticity of its OS. But downt worry it wont harm your system. You might have accidently installed Windows genuine check program(while updating).
The only solution to stop receiving this message is to roll backthe installation.
You can do this by restoring your PC to an earlier date.

If you know how to restore and what will be its consequences then its ok and go for it but if you dont then please revert back, so I can tell you the steps to follow.
