Its probably that you have a contact failure. prove to clean with a cotton fioc with alchol the batterie contact. if the camera dont have received a drop or a pressur the problem can are in this point. if the camera is falled, the faul contact it s probably in the camera inside.

I put new batteries in my Sony cybershot camera and can only view pictures. the camera shuts off when we try to take a picture.

Make sure the batteries are not rechargeable and that they are fresh. If the problem reoccurs, remove batteries and reinsert after about 15 minutes.

Batteries don't play a role in it. Maybe it has slow focus. Try to push the shooting button to only half of its full push, wait a while until it focuses an then shoot by full press on the shoot button. You can also check if you have not switched on macro settings (flower in frame). If you do, turn it off.

Nikon coolpix 2100 camera won't stay on

I've been having problems with the batteries and the camera refusing to start even with fresh batteries. I bought loads of new rechargable batteries and have finally found some that work. Duracell rechargables. Theyr'e brilliant and keep their charge for ages despite continuous use of the camera! Last summer I managed to take 975 photos before the batteries finally decided to give up!
