First, try installing the updated version of the Philips Device Manager from the www.usasupport.philips.com website. If the repair fails a second time, then, try disconnecting the GoGear from the computer, holding in the volume + button, and reconnecting it to the computer with the volume + button pressed WITHOUT opening the device manager. Windows should go into Found New Hardware/Recovery Console Mode.

My computer do not recognize my mp3 player

Hi sirbeverly,

You may want to attempt a Repair - instructions for this process are specific to each model. You can find valuable Support resources by visiting www.philips.com/support and enter your model number (listed on the product itself, typically starts with "SA").

If you haven't already done so, you can reach Customer Support at 1-888-744-5477. An agent will also be able to walk you through this process.

Hope this helps! Rate and comment this solution!

REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:

Try doing a soft reset first.

  1. Insert a small pin or unfolded paperclip into the reset hole located at the back of the player.
  2. Hold until the player shuts down.
  3. Power on the player again by using the Power on/off key.
Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset.

If soft reset does not work, then you may have to use the Device Manager to REPAIR/RECOVER your player (Note: For some models, a Repair can be performed using Philips Songbird).

If you have not already installed the Device Manager, follow the on screen instructions to install the Device Manager from the installation CD or download the latest version of the Device Manager application from http://www.philips.com/support.
  1. Make sure all other applications Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device. Launch the Device Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Device Manager on your PC. Select the REPAIR tab on the dialogue box.
  2. Power off the player. Press and hold the "+" key and then connect it to the PC until you are prompted to release the key.
  3. Select the device name SA60xx and then click OK and REPAIR. IMPORTANT: All music & content of your device will be erased once the Player is repaired.070327115306_18301.gif
  4. Once the repair is complete a dialogue box will pop up; click OK and unplug the Player from the computer.
    070327115511_18302.gif
  5. The Device Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. Close all opened application and then unplug your device.
Once the Player is disconnected from the computer, the display will show "Firmware Upgrading" for a couple of seconds and then start up as usual.

Tip: Update your player's firmware to the latest version to reduce the chance of future hang-ups. See "How do I update my player with the latest firmware?" for instructions.

If you have any additional questions or issues, Consumer Care can be reached at 1-888-744-5477.

Hope this helps! If so, please let me know by rating this solution so that I can help others more effectively!

Corrupt playlists

Connect the player to the power supply and PC.

Press and hold [Vol +] & [POWER] until player resets.

As soon as the screen goes blank, release [Vol +] & [POWER] and press and hold [Vol -].

Player should show the connection screen, but without the status line at the top

PC will recognise the player as a removable drive.

Once the PC says that the device is ready to use, open My Computer and player should be in the list. (GoGear)

Right click on the player and select format.

Tick the "Quick Format box" and make sure the format is FAT32, and click start.

When the player has formatted, safely remove, and power up. You will get an error message on the player saying "connect to PC".

Connect to PC normally and repair with Device Manager.

Philip's Go Gear 30 GB

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

You must do a firmware upgrade to resolve this issue.

Open Philips Device Manager (Go to Start--> all Programs--> Philips...), and click on Update tab

OR

You can get it from www.usasupport.philips.com
It will delete all songs off your player, so be forewarned
Enter your model number on the website, click the link on next page that says SA 5125/37 w/o a "b" on the end
Click on Software and drivers tab
Click on firmware upgrade software - instructions enclosed
