Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

We have a Whirlpool Whole House Prefiltration unit (WHCF-DWHV) The filter desperately needs changing but the outercasing simply won't unscrew no matter what. Is there any way to loosen it short of just breaking it (which I'm almost ready to do!)

I have the same problem, the solution is to shut off the in coming water supply, the valve on the top does NOT shut off the water. I think the units were put together wrong and the in and out are reversed. mine opened right up after I turned off the water!

SOURCE: I would like to know

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
You have actually posted on the washing machine forum!
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser 'whirlpool whole house water filter' and, with a bit of luck, you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct. You may find, however, that it will supply only to service engineers but good luck anyway.
Good luck,
John C.

When I changed my filter in my Whirlpool refrigerator, my refrigerator stopped making ice and dispensing water. How do I get it to start back making ice and dispensing water.

If you still have the old filter replace the new with the previous. If all works OK check new filter for blockage or manufacturing defect. Usually most units will work with no filter installed.

It is likely that you have not fully assembled the new filter in the location.

The filter can be removed and there should be no leak and the ice maker and water dispenser should work just like before except the water is not filtered. This feature is available for customers who have whole house filters.

Hope this helps?

Ice smells bad

You can leave the fridge turned on but make sure you shut off the water and put a container under the filter when you remove is as there will be water that will try to go everywhere. Any filters are external so if you had to add one there won't be any others to change, Make sure you flush the new filter to the instructions when it is replaced.

We cannot find where the filter is on our side by side whirlpool model #ed2shaxml

The water filter is at the very bottom on the left side of the grille. There is a check valve that will allow to simply unscrew and replace the filter, but be careful, nevertheless, to turn the water valve off before replacing it

We are contemplating buying a samsung fridge However we currently have a whirlpool with the water filter on it. How would we disconnect the water filter currently installed to connect a new samsung fridge?

I'm not sure I understand your question, so forgive me if I'm incorrect. I'm confused as to wether your whirlpool has an internal filter or if you have an external stand-alone unit.

I have a samsung refridgerator and the water filter is inside the fridge located at the back on the upper right. In fact, all Samsung RAF/AES models come with this internal filter. Depending on where you buy it, often times the delivery guys will set it up for free. They will simply disconnect your old fridge, remove it , reconnect the water hose to your new Samsung and be on their way.

If you choose to do it yourself, simply remove the old fridge, follow the hose to under your sink and remove the old one. Run the new house by attaching it to the appropriate place on your sink and over to the back of the fridge. Also, many modern homes have a cold water tap behind the fridge, so you might be able to connect it there if you do.

Either way, whether you have an external unit or inyernal hose

Hi i've got a Bosch model no E-NR WAE28363GB/05 FD 8803604688. i've only had the machine 2 1/2 years and it,s suddenly packed up it won,t turn spin wash nothing!!! All i get is this message on my screen...

Sounds like your drain pump has something stuck in it. F18 indicates drain fault. unscrew the filter at the front and remove, put towels down as there will be water in it. This will give you access to the impeller of the drain pump. then remove anything that may be stuck. If you cant remove what is stuck then you will need to tilt the machine back and remove the pump. Simply unhook both hoses and unscrew the pump, usually 3 screws. Hope this helps

Model gh7155xhs how to find and replace fuse

Hello SHahidbell,

I understand that you need to replace the fuse in you microwave. I have located the fuse for you from partselect.com its cost is $12.27 here is a link to the part http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=gh7155xhs&SearchTerm=fuse&RefineSearch=0

1. Unplug the unit
2. Remove the outercasing
3. Locate the fuse holder, this unit only has one
4. Use a pair of pliers to remove the fuse gently not to crack it
5. Install the new fuse
6. Install the outer casing
7. Plug in and try

You do not want to try the unit with the outercasing off. Microwaves give off radiation the outershell helps to reduce this radiation.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Where is the water filter and how do I change it out?

The Roper ref is basically a Whirlpool ref. The filter on a side by side unit usually is down the botton in the grille area slightly to the left of the center post. The grille will have a round hole opening, and filter should be there. The other place is in the ref section at the top rear right hand corner. The other possibility is that the unit may NOT have a filter. Not all units had them. If the unit is older than 5 yrs or so, ir propably did not have one and thus the external filter your parents were using. Or your parents took the filter out and the opening is empty. These units have an automatic by pass in them so they can be used without a filter or that an external one could be used.
