This model is very similar to the Microtek 9800XL. You might try contacting Microtek to see if the bulbs are interchangeable.

I have an HP7310 all in one that is several yars old. When I scan something I am getting a yellow streak down one side. It doesn't do it if a scan is the first thing of the day, but it happens always...

Then I beleive that it is indeed the scanner bulb. Unfortunately, HP does not sell the scanner bulbs or scanner parts. They will either repair it or offer you a refurbished unit at a price. Then again if it is like mine that I have had for 4 yrs, it may be less expensive to buy a new one, and use the that one just for printing.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

I'm sure the lamp replacement is not a difficult task but finding the lamp itself could be a problem since even the manufacturers are not very helpful.
Did you ask them if they carry the lamp?

The scanner light does not come on when copying or scanning. Can I replace a bulb or is it shot?

you will need to contact dell to see if the bulb is available.
most likely, that is the problem. However, there are times where the bulb is not replaceable, the whole scanner assembly needs to be replaced.

thanks adi

Scanner bulb warm up

I have the same problem and it seems that the only way to fix this is to replace the scanner bulb. The problem is that, as far as I can tell, the bulb comes as part of the scanner assembly - and so you have to replace the whole scanner assembly. It is quite expensive - 200 to 300 dollars Canadian. There are whole machines available for $300.00 though so is it worth repairing if one cannot just buy the bulb? Ger.

I recently had Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional installed on my computer, will I be able to re-install Microtek Scanmaker X6 Scanner? If so, can you explain just how to do it...I'm an old man and need...

Congratulations, you just installed one of the best and more stable windows systems in your PC.
About your scanner, download the driver from here: ScanMaker and run the executable file. Its a Windows Millenium driver, not 2000 so it may have some problem with the Operating system because it wasn't designed to run in windows 2000.
Install the driver and tell us if your scanner worked ok!.

Stuck on "warming up"

Sorry, forgot to get back to ya..
anyway, remove control panel cover, remove button panel, you will see a little tab right at the top, push that down and unlock and discconect, remove small ribbon on the underside. use torx driver and remove screws so that you can remove the whole top gray housing, you want to access where the scanner bulb comes to rest, there will be a black plastic cover over the scanner bulb, REMOVE THAT PIECE, its about 2" wide by 10" long, unclip it by putting small screwdriver in small rectangular slots and pry lightly to the right, there are little tab locks in there.
With that removed, just put things back loosely to see if the warming up stops when turning on or trying to use scanner, if everything works well, do alittle cleaning and put thing all back together.. this should solve your warming up promlem..
