Clean out all interior with bicarb and dry thoroughly.
then making sure doors are closed switch on and test temp with thermometer, freezer -18,fridge +2 to +5 degrees C.a total defrost should be done every year(keeps all the bugs/nasties that cause horrid niffs away).

My fridge is about 2yrs old I need to know how to turn of the alarm when the door is open. When I am cleaning it. I cleaned it two days ago and now it is making a terrible noise.

The alarm tells you that something's wrong something's not cooling properly or something's wrong with the defrost system if you left your doors open for quite a while it will create ice around the fan blades and that could be your noise problem. d
Disconnecting the power to your refrigerator opening the doors for about 12 hours and let it manually defrost will usually solve the problem.

Kenmore refigerator 3 door model 79578302804 has ice around evaporator fan

If it is only ice around the evaporator fan it is a indication that one of the doors were left open. You will need to unplug and manually defrost to remove the ice if it has not all ready melted, Sea Breeze

I have an EB9SHKXVQ refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. Several times I've noticed a layer of ice on the bottom of the freezer under the basket. I have no idea where the water is coming from....

THE DOOR GETTING LEFT OPEN JUST A CRACK,OR HEAVY TRAFFIC...THE WATER IS COMING FROM THE DEFROST CYCLE. THE HUMID AIR IS BUILT UP ON THE COILS AND THE DEFROST CYCLE LETS IT MELT AWAY. YOU MAY NEED TO REMOVE ALL FROM FRIDGE AND START FRESH WITH A MANUAL DEFROST, USE A FAN THIS WILL SPEED UP THE (ABOUT 1.5HR) DEFROST TIME, WIPE DOWN FRIDGE N FREEZER TO REMOVE ALL MOISTURE, COAT DOOR GASKETS WITH ARMOR ALL, AND MAKE SURE THERE IS NO WAY THE DOORS CAN BE LEFT OPEN, BECAUSE OF SOMETHING NOT LETTING THEM CLOSE ALL THE WAY.. .. HOPE THIS WAS OF HELP.. JAY

How do I defrost the fridge?

Hi, to begin the defrosting process, remove all non-perishable foods from the refrigerator. These items should be moved to a cooler that contains some ice in it to keep the items from getting warm. Next, turn the refrigerator's temperature down to 0 or Off depending on the model. If possible, remove any shelving from the refrigerator, clean it, and set it aside. Note that it is not necessary to unplug the refrigerator. Unplugging the refrigerator will turn-off any lights inside and it is advantageous to have lighting on when performing the defrosting process. Depending on the model that you own, either open one or two refrigerator doors and leave them open. This allows the flow of warm air to enter into the appliance and helps the defrosting process. While the doors are open, take some old cloth or paper towels and set them aside. Now you will need to wait approximately 2-4 hours for the ice to melt inside the refrigerator.

MSD2656GEQ The coils on the freezer side ices up, then does not cool the refridgerator side

Hi, It's a common problem with no-frost refrigerators, you have a defrost problems, two scenarios. (1) hot air entering freezer/refrigerator, examples. hot summer days, regular openings, high room temperatures, hot foods and broken door gasket, leaving freezer/refrigerator doors slightly open overnight, could cause your evaporator (coils) to freeze/ice up. cases like this, unplug/disconnect your refrigerator, remove produce, clean and let it defrost, for an hour, make sure all ice melted. plug or reconnect your refrigerator let it work/ run empty for another hour, then put back your produce. sure it will work perfect for the next 3-4 days. (2) next type of defrost problem could be faulty defrost heater, defrost thermostat, you will have to open back panel on freezer side to check. check your defrost heaters, defrost thermostat and defrost timer, it's better to change defrost timer and defrost thermostat together, or change faulty ones independently. but before you change any parts, clean and defrost refrigerator first, could just be regular openings, hot days, etc. if after 3-4 days it started to ice up, then check following parts. defrost heater. defrost thermostat and defrost timer, let me know if icing occurs after 3-4 days then we can check those parts i suggested. remember to always disconnect/unplug your refrigerator, before attempting any repairs. good luck

GE GSS22 refrig wont get cold, freezer does.

Hi, it's possible you have a defrost problem, to know if you have a defrost problem, you should unplug/disconnect refrigerator, remove your produce, leave doors open, for faster defrost, clean and leave unplug/disconnected for about hour, be cautious you will get excessive water from defrosting. let freezer defrost completely, then plug/connect refrigerator, let it work/run for an hour, if it's o/k, put back your produce, if it work good/ o/k for 3 to 4 days and start doing the same thing, you got a defrost problem, defrost problems are caused when excessive ice build up on your evaporator, two things could cause a defrost problem. (1) excessive moisture/ hot air entering refrigerator, hot days, hot foods, regular opening, to close heat source, range/ oven. in cases like that, cleaning of refrigerator will normally solve that problem. (2) faulty defrost heaters, defrost thermostat , located in back of freezer side, you will have to remove shelves and back panel, to get access to it,also check your defrost timer and speed of fan, but first disconnect refrigerator, clean and try , before changing any parts. it could just be excessive moisture. always remember to disconnect your refrigerator before attempting any repairs, let me know what happened, then i could tell you exactly what's problem. good luck

the evaporator is clogged with frost, just as if the defrost heater went out. Two options, remove all food and leave ref unplugged and doors open for half a day, or remove the back wall(evaporator cover) and defrost it with a hair dryer.

FRIDGE/FREEZER ON THE BLITZ?

Try removing everything out of your fridge, switch it off and open all doors for 12 hrs. Then close doors and switch it on for another 24 hrs before putting in you stuff. most likely the evaporator is iced up, you need to defrost if fully.

Kenmore Elite side-by-side Fridge side is not cooling. (Freezer is working ok) Part on top left of fridge that has vent holes that usually blow out cooled air does not seem to be working. Could the fact...

Either your door was left open or your have a defrost problem.
Unplug the refrigerator and let it sit overnight (with the doors open). Start it back up (give it at least twelve hours) the next day and see if it works. If it does, see how long it stays working for you. If it quites again, contact a service agent and have him repair your self defrosting problem.
