Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

1 Answer

Router stopped broadcasting wireless signal

It was working just fine, and I was using for both my Wii Console and a laptop at the same time, when the signal was just gone. I connected directly to my modem, and my internet connection was just fine. I just suddenly no longer have internet (my daughter was in the middle of movie via netflix on the wii, and it quit mid-sentence).

Is there anything I can do to get it going again? Or is a router another one of those wonderful new electronic devices that has become disposable?

Help! I really can't afford a new router right now!

Can you connect directly via cable to the router? If not, the system may be toast.

To make sure everything is clear. Turn off your modem, router and pc. Next power up the modem, the router and the pc in that order.

A possible cause of your problem may be that you had no security on your router and a neighbor mistakenly reset the router to another name or something.

If you find that you can connect to the router directly, I would setup security on the network.

Error code 204038

Error Code: 204038
The Wii console was unable to connect to the Wii Shop Channel.

  • Check for wireless interference, which can affect the signal strength to the Wii console. To help minimize wireless interference, try the following:
    • Make sure other wireless devices such as cordless phones or wireless speakers are turned off, and that the Wii console is an open area without objects or electronics blocking the signal. (For instance, if the Wii is placed in a crowded entertainment center, try moving the Wii somewhere with more room.)
    • Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker. For help doing this, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). The information you need is found in the "Broadcast Channel:" area.
  • There could be a temporary network issue with Nintendo's servers. Please wait a few hours and try to access the Internet Channel again.

I live in a three story house my wii is in the basement and my wireless router is on the second floor should my wii pick up a signal...i tried to hook up with netflix and my wii says cant find connection

Hi.

1. Try using it upstairs on the 2nd floor and if it works there you know its a range issue with the router.
To then solve it you could run a cable from the router down to the basement (which is a bit old school but very effective and guarenteed to work) or get a second router or modem and place it in the basement. (for modem you would need a phoneline in the basement)

2. If it doesn't work upstairs, make sure you have the correct connection information for your network and that your network is broadcasting its SSID. If your network is not broadcasting it is what is known as hidden. This means that you will have to enter all the network information manually by following the prompts on the wii console.

When watching a movie using my wii console. everytime i log on the internet w/ my computer. I loose wi-fi connection to the wii. and get an error code 52230

Error Code 52230 means that your router or Internet Service Provider is having difficulty assigning a DNS or IP address to the Wii. What this usually means when you had a connection and it drops is that you aren't getting a clean signal connection between your router and your console. First step, unplug your modem and your router wait 30 seconds and plug them back in. If that doesn't work:

Various factors affect connecting a Wii to the internet with a WiFi connection as well, including signal strength, distance from the wireless router to the console and obstacles such as walls and ceilings that interfere with the signal. If you're using a G router and you have your Wii too far away or, has obstacles (walls and ceilings) in the way, it will not connect. You should use an N-Router if there is a significant distance between the console and the router or if there are obstacles.
In your case it could be the wireless adapter on your computer is interfering with the Wii. Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker.

  • Check to see if the router you are using is a known to be incompatible. Click here to view the list. If your router is known to be incompatible, you'll need to use a different router if possible.
  • Make sure that the SSID (network name) matches exactly to what you have entered in the Wii console's settings. To verify:

  1. Login to your router's settings (click here and select your router, if available, for information).
  2. Look for the section for SSID (typically in the "wireless settings" area).
  3. After you find the SSID (network name), verify in the manual settings of the Wii console that the SSID appears exactly as listed in the consumer's router. This includes making sure capitalization, spaces, or special characters match exactly.

  • Look up your router, if available, in the list of wireless routers, and check for any special notes that may be necessary to get the connection to work properly.
  • The router may not be assigning an IP address to the Wii console, and a connection using the "Manual Settings" may be necessary.
  • Your router may require a firmware update to work properly with the Wii console. Firmware updates can usually be found on the router manufacturer's website; consult the manufacturer for more information.

Cannot get Netflix instant streaming to work on my Wii console. Wii repeats error code 503. My router is Belkin_N_Wireless_227015 which is the SAME connection shown in the Wii console test. What's wrong?

  • Try adjusting the "Channel" your wireless router broadcasts on. We highly recommend setting your wireless router to either channel 1 or 11. This can potentially increase the download speed. For information on accessing your router's settings, click here to select the brand name and model number of your router (if available).
  • Check your router's broadcast settings to find out if it is set to "G", "B", or "Mixed." Mixed typically works best, but try all three to see if it improves the network connection to the Wii console.

  • Make sure that any other interfering devices, such as microwaves and cordless phones, are turned off. Wireless keyboards and mice may also cause interference.

Wireless Network?

The modern laptop and Wii will be no problem. Windows 98 will work but it can be much trickier to set up.

Parts needed
1 x Wireless Router - You can pick up a 2WIRE Router from around £20 on eBay
3 x Wireless LAN Network Adaptors - Around £20 each.

Firstly, the Router. This bit connects to your telephone line and broadcasts your broadband signal by radio and allows several computers to use one service. When you buy a router make sure it includes installation software. You can install routers without, but it's a whole lot easier if you have it.

Next you need to be able to receive the broadband radio signal on your computers and Wii.To receive the signal you need Wireless LAN Network Adaptors on each device. Network Adaptors also have software, which allows you to install the drivers needed.

Your laptop may already have a wireless adaptor built in.
You can check this by clicking
Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\Communications\Network Connections
Then see if a Wireless adaptor is present. If it isn't, you can install one inside the laptop by buying a laptop wireless network card. Easier, is to buy a USB Wireless LAN Network Adaptor which just plugs in to a USB socket on the laptop.

Look for LAN Network adaptors that are suitable for the Wii and a separate one suitable for Windows 98. Most will be ok for the laptop.

Install the router first. just do what the software tells you, then install the LAN adaptor drivers on each device you want networked.

Finally, make sure you secure your router signal. That stops the guy next door using your network and offers some security from hackers. Your router will include a firewall and you can set up a key code that your adaptors will need before they can connect. Unless the guy next door has the key, he won't be able to use
your network and play your MP3s...hoorah!
Follow the instructions given in the software to set up a WPA or WEP security key.

Great fun, you'll love it if you can get it all going.
