Unfortunately, this model has had quite a few problems, because it is such a complicated refrigerator. Many times a shorted component that is connected to the Iceland main control board will affect completely unrelated items making it easy to chase your tail for hours. I would suspect the freezer thermostor - only because we have had to replace it many times in the past. Suggest you go to the www.searspartsdirect.com and copy the electrical diagram and then verify electrical reading on the main PCB, to try to isolate the problem.
how old is this fridge?they dont take kindly at being moved ,if its older than 10 years then i would replace it as it will start to give you trouble in the near future, but some older fridges take at least 3/4 days to settle down.adrian,,,,,,,
Good day, That's too long a period, for a normal. defrost system failure. You'll have to wait until it quits, then remove the rear panel and look for ice (not frost) building up somewhere in the freezer compartment. I have solved similar problems on this model, by replacing the defrost thermostat with a GE 60 degree thermostat, and a WR9X330 GE 6 hour defrost timer to get this model to defrost completely.
It's also possible that the refrigerant charge is slightly low, causing the defrost thermostat not to reach a cold enough temperature to perform a good defrost cycle. (building ice over a long period of time).
Make sure Freon 12 was used when replacing the compressor. Some substitutes caused the evaporator coil to act as if it was slightly low on charge.
What is the temperature in the cabin when it isn't occupied?? If the temperature in cabin drops to or below 55 degrees, then the thermostat that controls the machine, being in the fresh food compartment will not cycle the machine. If you warm up the cabin for a decent period of time, and it fails to run, you will need to replace the main cold control. Without the approx. age, the style of the machine, top, bottom or SXS style and where the temperature controls are located. Both in Fresh food compartment, one each in freezer and fresh food area, this is the best I can give you. Please, in the future, give as many details about what machine we are working on to give you the best possible answers. Jack P.S. is it possible someone shut off the power that runs the machine when you left ???
I got mine in 2005. It stopped working 4 or 5 weeks ago. It made a clicking noise and the compressor was very hot. Compressor is under warranty but appliance repair shop wanted $125 to install it and another $75 to charge it with freon. I saw a posting somewhere else that said it was a relay switch. I ordered one from RepairClinic.com for $24.00 incl. shipping, put it in and it's working now. There's a black plastic housing on the left side of the compressor. Just unscrew that, pop the cover off (that was a little tricky) and plug in the new part. Maybe I'll get another 3 years out of it.
Your question is: freezer is icing up and fridge temperature has risen to 10 from 5. Also alot of condensation in the fridge and the fan doesnt seem to be working in fridge. Correct temperature on freezer -18 but ice. new frost free fridge freezer bought 1.5 weeks ago
This is no problem for you. You are under warranty and as long as you have not tryed to repair it yourself you are completely covered. Look for the manufacturer's warranty phone number on the paper work that came with it or call the sales man, he will be happy to track that down for you because he wants repeat business.
If you bought it used the only answer is to return it. You could get a local pro to repair it at yuor own expense but I wouldn't recomend that for a frige only 1.5 weeks old!
