Electrical ignitor on Kenmore Hot Water Heater Not Working

The water heater uses a thermocouple to generate a small voltage from the pilot light. This voltage is used to blink the led and allow the main gas jet to turn on. Either your thermocouple or the wiring from it has failed and needs to be replaced, or realigned if perhaps it moved out of position above the pilot light.

The timer knob makes a clicking noise, if i try to turn the gas dryer on, it will make a constant buzzing noise and it wont start. I check continuity on the thermal fuse, cut off fuse and thermostat, all...

The thermal element that gets red hot and lights the pilot (assuming you have pilot flame) is cracked or broken. It is possible to light with a match but a nuisance.

Tankless water heater pilot light will not stay on

It is most likely the water valve stuck open, telling the controls to heat water, that it thinks is flowing through it, but without actual flow it overheats. Depending on how comfortable you are with taking it apart yourself, you could open the valve to see if it just needs cleaned out, or if you have a ruptured diaphragm or some other cause.

Oven pilot light won't light

Part of the problem was my own ignorance about this particular Kenmore gas oven. It doesn't even have a pilot light. Instead, there is an electric heating element close to the burner which gets so hot that it ignites the gas. It seems that the heating element also doubles as a temperature sensor, so that it opens the gas valve only when the heating element is hot enough to ignite the gas. This heating element, called the "ignitor", no longer gets hot in my oven even though there is 120VAC applied to it when the oven knob is turned on. Therefore, the ignitor is defective. I ordered a new one on-line from "Appliance Parts of America" for $31.50 plus shipping, and this should fix the problem. If it does NOT, I'll add to this post.
