Hi The sross hair on the finder scope has broken. How do you get the scope apart to replace the broken hair? Robert Jenkins

It would be better just to replace the finderscope. Even if you disassembled the finder you may not be able to permanently center the two crosshairs perfectly.

You have a very nice scope-- buy another finder -- I would suggest that you mount a Telrad finder like this one.

How do you use it [ operating instructions ] ?

I have never heard of this brand??? Is it a reflector style telescope like the picture?

If it is the first thing you should do is take it out side during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object. Use the eyepiece with the largest number written on it. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow if you have one. Also line up the finder scope with the main telescope tube using the top of a telephone pole a good distance away.

Center the top of the pole in the main eyepiece, then with out moving the scope line up the crosshairs in the small finder scope on the same object.

Here is a manual for a similar reflector style telescope made by Meade:

I was just given a telescope and I need a reliable place to purchase parts. The main piece i'm looking for is an adjustor ring on the aiming scope and some different eye pieces

Meade may have the part, but I doubt it. You can call them here:

It might be easier just to replace the finder scope with one of these:

or this:

Eyepieces can be purchased at many on-line retailers. Here are two:

How do you remove the dust cover-- model40-114675 tasco luminova

Believe it or not the PICTURE in your question shows the scope mounted UPSIDE DOWN. Guess Fixya does not know which way to point it!

Your scope should be setup like this picture on the Meade manual web site:

Notice both the focuser and the finder scope are on the end of the scope POINTING UP toward the sky. The lens cap simple pops off or unscrews.

How to use

Put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope. Go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object.

This is your LOWEST magnification. Then try other higher power eyepieces. While you are out there focused on a distant object. Line up the small finder scope on that object without moving the telescope. Use the small thumb screws on the finder scope to put the "X" crosshairs on the same object as you see in the eyepiece.

Point the scope to a distant object like the top of a telephone pole.

Without moving the telescope adjust the small screws on the finder scope to LINE-UP on the same object.

How do you mount an ext 90 telescope (meade) to its tripod (ext field tripod). both are unused out of the box

There are two holes in the base of the telescope that match up with the two thumb screws on the tripod. It's easier if you lift up the base of the tripod a little using the latitude scale shaft.

Read the manual front to back before you use the scope.
