Question about Dometic 57915531 Air Conditioner

1 Answer

I just installed the optional heater on my Dometic

I just installed the optional heater, model # 3101121.030 on my Dometic Duo Therm Air Conditioner model # 57915-331 as per instructions. However, the cover does not go back on, it's like the heater unit is too thick. I'm thinking the housing that holds the controls now needs to be lowered so everything lines back up, even though it does not say to do that. Yes, I checked to make sure that no wiring harnesses were in the way. Help

The heat coils are in the hole far enough, it's the base that the heat coils are attached to, the part that actual screws to the unit/ceiling that is causing the problem. Here is a website with a great picture to help show what I'm talking about. It's the part his thumb is on...http://parts.motorsportsland.com/applian...

The heater should be in the opening high enough to allow cover to be back on as it was. Please double check your mounting instructions.

I just removed an older one with same element last fall from a mobile home, and it got tossed out, and to be quite honest, I forget exactly how it was mounted in the unit, and I think in 15+ years, I've only installed maybe one of those in the early years. I'd take a shot at calling ( 1-800-544-4881 ) Dometic customer service, and ask for technical help, regarding the heat coil installation. Have same numbers ready for them. It may be a case where different ceiling assy. is required, but that's something they can advise you on. If I get a chance in next day or so, I'll check a few at the resort and see if I can find another one with heat coil installed, just to see if I can figure out what might be the problem with your installation. I'll get back to you a.s.a.p.

Installing rv roof airconditioner heat strip

I see what you see also in the manual. The difference is the Heat Strip package that part is optional and the 600212-001 with the optional heat strips becomes the new 600315-001 I talked to Dometic Duo-Therm and the models are the same but they both are not heat pumps but the new heat strip package comes on when told to go into heat mode when you change the thermostat to heat. The part you purchased will fit both model numbers you listed for your roof top air conditioner. Thanks, Sea Breeze
