Question about Pool & Spa
Check the vent hole on the gas cap. If it is sputtering it is fuel related. If it is not trying to fire at all check the spark. New plugs can fail and there is a key on the flywheel that acts like a fuse and kills the spark if something hard is hit by the blade.

The shear key may be compromised or the air filter is clogged shut. if you hit something with the mower (it doesn't take much) the shear key may get distorted which changes the timing enough to make it hard or impossible to start, it can drive you crazy but a .79 part will ruin you whole weekend.
