Question about Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

Parts of clothes get stuck in edge of dryer...seems to burn them.

The stackable dryer gets small parts of clothes, i.e. the tie in a hoodie sweatshirt; the ******** my child's overalls, stuck in the edge of the dryer and leaves brown marks on them almost like they have burned.  Is this fixable?

Thanks! How and where do you order the "felt-like seal"?  Sears?

My stacked dryer has a couple of problems - the wee clothes get stuck in the edge of dryer. Also, when I start the dryer it squeals for about 5 minutes and then stops. Also at times some of the clothes leave burn marks.

    Can someone help me.

I have had this same problem with my stack-able dryer. It was leaving small burns on my kids clothes and my good sheets. My dryer has a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer can get caught and scorched or torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. My seal was worn out, so I needed to replace it. I had someone come in and do the work the first time but when it wore out again I just order the part and replaced it myself. It is fixable:)

I have a frigidaire stackable washer/dryer model number FEx831cs0. The washer is working just find but the dryer for a few weeks has been making the worst screeching sounding in the world. I am not sure if...

A loose belt often makes a squeak that pulsates with the clothes hitting the paddles in the drum. It's probably the upper drum glide or rear bearing. If it's a constant screech coming from the front, it's probably the glide. If the noise seems to be in the back, suspect the bearing. You might check for a sock or something small that is stuck somewhere between the drum and the dryer.

Neither are very difficult to repair.

Clothes get tuck on the front edge and discolors

it most probably needs to have the felt cushion on the front of the drum replaced.

My dryer burns holes in my clothes

are the clothes getting stuck in the front part of drum, the glides could be gone, the front felt strip could be worn or some dryers ride on rear bearing that wears down, the drum isn't spinning correctly because one of the parts i mentioned are damaged and the clothing gets caught in the space that's made from the drum sagging down

Dryer drum has come loose, how do I tighten it?

These machines have a metal ball (like a small trailer hitch ball) mounted on the rear of the drum that rides in a plastic saddle mounted on the rear of the machine,
The parts that you need to replace would be the plastic glides mounted in the front of the drum that run on teflon pads glued to the rim around the door. When they get bad you start to notice dammaged clothing.
The drum is allowed to sag down enough that clothing can get into the gap at the bottom and as the drum turns upward the items get pinched when the gap closes at the top.
All these parts can be replaced but be prepared if you do it yourself, this is a tough machine to work on.
Good Luck

I have a Neptune stackable washer/dryer. The dryer drum seems to have peeled away or splintered on the edge so it is sharp noew and catching clothes. How much to replace the drum?

IT DEPENDS ON YOUR MODEL NUMBER I SEE THEM FOR $157, $125, AND $220. SO PLEASE POST YOUR MODEL NUMBER OR YOU CAN LOOK AT www.repairclinic.com ENTER YOUR MODEL NUMBER AND SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN CLICK THE RED 100 AND IT WILL SHOW YOU PARTS FOR YOUR DRYER. I HAD T TYPE IN NEPTUNE AND IT BROUGHT UP 500 PARTS BUT THAT IS DUE TO NOT HAVING A MODEL NUMBER. YOU MAY HAVE TO DO IT THIS WAY AS WELL BUT YOU CAN COMPARE THE ONE YOU HAVE WITH THE ONES THEY SHOW. GGOD LUCK
