Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? .......... Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines......... The model number on top load washers is usually found by lifting the lid and looking above the tub. The Fixya numbers are Stock Numbers. Since basic top load direct drive, top load electronic and front load washers are very different, the actual Model Numbers are necessary to correctly diagnose the problem. Can you hear the motor????? Have you tried a different cycle???? Will it drain??? Spin????

If the problem is just the agitator not working, but everything else does, you may just have a worn agitator cam assembly, worn agitator dogs, loose agitator bolt, or all of the above. The following link explains what agitator dogs are and how to access them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608577-replacing_agitator_dogs

Whirlpool manufactured washers use a split agitator design. The top half is known as the "auger, while the lower half is the agitator. Between the two pieces is a cam assembly, with small teflon teeth known as "dogs". There's also an agitator bolt that holds the entire assembly to the center post.

If the auger (top half of the agitator) is slipping, I would suspect the dogs or cam assembly need to be replaced. The part number for the dogs is included in the link I provided. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam assembly which includes the dogs, the cam, the cam seal and thrust bearing.

If the entire agitator appears loose or slipping, check the agitator bolt to ensure it is tight. DO NOT overtighten as this can restrict movement of the agitator or damage it. Tighten until snug.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need. If you do not wish to order parts on line, use the part numbers from the Sears website and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. All these parts are commonly sold as part of their in-store inventory.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Whirlpool washer agitator not working

You most likely need to replace the dogs in the agitator, two piece agitator design. It should spin one way and catch the other on the teeth of the dogs. It will spin freely either way when the dogs are wore out. This is for the top half of the agitator, bottom is fitted to transmission shaft. You pop the top cover, remove the 7/16 bolt and both halves together to change dogs of agitator. Pull halves apart to change dogs. Fairly simple.

Washer does spin but barely agitates

It sounds like the agitator dogs are worn.
To remove the agitator, pry off the agitator cap and remove the bolt that holds down the agitator. With the bolt out pull up on the top section of the agitator (auger) to remove it. Underneath the auger you should see 4 small white or beige plastic gears (dogs). . Replace those and it should be ok.

Clothing stuck inside at bottom of Washer.

This keeps happening to me too. Solution :The fabric softner cap has two bevels on the side if you place something in it the fabric softner top will come off. Under the that cap there is a bolt, losen the bolt and the agitator pulls up. Hope this helps, my problem is that the agitator moves back and forth while spinning and causes the close to get stuck. I don't know what is wrong if you can help let me know.

Spin cycle...

Sounds like the spin tub mounting block is stripped to me. Remove agitator. Remove spanner nut holding spin tub to basket drive. The block is the aluminum piece joining the basket drive shaft. The aluminum block has two square indentions that sit down on two tabs formed on the basket drive shaft. The soft metal wears out on the block and the drive shaft isnt attached to the spin tub anymore. An easy way to test is remove agitator and put in spin. See if shaft spins but not tub spin.Let me know what you find

Maytag PAV2300 AWW nevre agitates and only spins once.

Ive never seen a Maytag washer, but I think know the principle. So! I think the motor turns in one direction to wash & the opposite direction to spin. Now, if the transmission is very stiff in the 'wash mode', that could be why its not washing. The motor could be overheating & the thermal trip in the motor cutting off the electricity supply hence having to wait 45 mins for it to cool.
Not too sure! However I think I am on the right track. Let me know please
