Question about Mitsubishi WD-60737 60 in. HDTV

1 Answer

My Mitsubishi WD-60737 randomly detects devices in empty ports. I wll be watching TV and the screen will go blue and bring up the option to label the new device found. At first I had something plugged into a port and it said new device so I unplugged that device the problem just continued in the next port (input 3) which was never even used from day one. How can I fix this? Is there some kind of factory reset so I can start from square one again and just double check my lines when I hook them up

I have seen similar problems before in my shop. It can be a couple of things, I have had, the IRed remote control receiver, glitch, and step through inputs.It can be the Input multiplexer, It can be the "Jungle" chip, itself.
You indeed may be able to reset your set, but this will NOT Fix it, sorry. You are going to have to troubleshoot, and isolate the exact problem, The manuals above will show you how to troubleshoot and hopefully repair your unit.

So, if you get stuck, or just don't really wish to do it all. in that case, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Mitsubishi, in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits. You'd be surprised who needs parts, i myself often must by from third party sources to effect a repair. So money could be recouped, somewhat,and help out someone else.

Flashing light mean yellow

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
