The Router’s ports and Reset button are located on the back panel of the Router. You can find a small push button with "Reset" written above it.
You can use the reset button:
If the Router is having problems connecting to the Internet. Press the Reset button for just a second with a paper clip or a pencil tip.
If you are experiencing extreme problems with the Router and have tried all other troubleshooting measures, press and hold in the Reset button for about 10 seconds. This will restore the factory defaults and clear all of the Router’s settings, such as port forwarding or a new password.
All The Best!!!

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Router settings to allow MacPro to access corporate VPN through router

The university that I attend compiled a great guide for setting up their VPN off campus. These should work for you as well:

http://www.it.ubc.ca/security/VPN/setupdocs.html

So far as I can tell, you shouldn't have to change the settings on your router to access a VPN from your home.

I am trying to telnet through a Linksys RVS4000 from the wan side of the router to a fixed device on the lan side of the router. Both networks wan & lan are operational and I can ping the Wan side...

run netstat on the lan pc to see if telnet server is listening on port 23. look at logs on the router and pc to see if it is blocking any traffic. make sure lan pc has route back to wan

Linksys RVS4000 Networking question

it seem that your best bet would be to look into remote access programs that can be found easily on google.com. I would suggest browsing some of the options you find on there.

hint: if your looking for a no cost solution, simply add the keyword freeware in the google search bar

Rvs4000 latest BETA firmware

there's a firmware update available on Linksys' site (v1.1.09). Apparently, this update fixes quite a lot. So much so, that after installing it you MUST reset to factory defaults. So, make sure you update the firmware first thing, and then reset. Don't use any old setups.

please rate this solution on how it helped.

many thanks nick

Re internet connection loss

Hi, well it may be, but it indeed just sounds pretty normal to me ... lol  unless it is doing it very frequently?

I would tend to think that it is fairly normal to "Drop Off", "Hang Up" etc  say a few times a month, anything else, may indicate a problem.

Also try disabling Windows XP Service zeroconfiguration wifi this often causes this type of thing sometimes.
