System freezes-Video display=multi-staggered image(not legible)

Compaq laptop, V6000: The video display changes to a full screen of a multi-staggered image, sometimes just the top of the window panel that was open(not legible, just a slice). This happens several times while using or I will come back to it and the video display looks like this and the computer is useless until powered off/on to reload windows(Vista). I have tried many adjustments to stop this. Memory, one chip at a time. Secondary monitor, happens to both screens. Backed-out drivers, etc... The laptop was sent to and replaced by Compaq to correct the Wireless connection. Not related directly with the replacement? This distortion started happening much later.

It's either a loose connection from the motherboard to the video-display, or a partially-broken video-display, or the video-adapter in your motherboard.

Connect an external monitor -- if it looks OK when the internal LCD is "wavy", then your computer is fine.

But, since your say "happens to both screens", the most-likely problem is the video-adapter, which usually means that you will have to get COMPAQ to replace the motherboard.

I have Compaq V6000 series laptop with AMD Processor & nvidia graphic card ,my laptop?s lower half of screen becomes blurred & will become ok after some adjustments & again become blurred when...

There was a TSB about the motherboards on the V series describing severe video issues and Nvidia GPU failures. Many consumers got a motherboard replacement. Try using a laptop cooler in the meantime and see if that helps a little. Also try googling V6000 video and see how many others got nuked by this poor design.

Presario v6000 thes screen will not work

If the laptop appear to boot up (ie the hard disk LED flashes) but you cannot see an image on the screen, then you could have a backlight problem.
To determine the actual fault, please follow my instructions which are on this link :-

Compaq V5005us is weird. Powers on with black screen and freezes

It sounds like your Video card and/or motherboard are starting to give out or your LCD is giving way. Try plugging the laptop into an external screen and see if it still acts strangely or even displays on the external monitor.

Pink Screen on a Compaq Presario V6000

Ok, to resolve this you will need to troubleshoot a little further.
Get hold of an external monitor and plug it up to the laptop, switch screens with the keyboard if you have to, if the colour is still the same then i'm afraid its the video card thats faulty and you will have to have it looked at

Good luck

Cant get compaq laptop to show screen on TV with cord

Well, my wife has an older Compaq Presario so I don't know if this solution will help...

After you connect the cabble from the laptop to the TV, you need to tell the laptop to send a TV signal...

On her laptop, there is a special "FN" key on the keyboard near the "Windows" key. You press that along with the display key at the same time. Her display key if the 'f4' key at the top of the keyboard.

It is likely that you'll need to do the same thing with your system.

The only other way would be through the display properties setting.
With ALL windows closed or minimized, right click on an empty area (no icons) of your desktop.
Select the Graphics Properties option and look for a multi-display option or an option to change display devices.

Should say something like TV, S-Video, Composite, or maybe HDMI.

Hope this helps,
vujsa

Screen Problems with my Laptop

hi dear

1. That can be connection related problem. I check connection between the video cable and the LCD screen, try reconnecting the video cable. It’s necessary to take apart the display panel, unplug the video cable from the connector on the back side of the LCD screen and then plug it back in. In some cases reseating this connection helps. 2. If reconnecting the video cable doesn’t help, here’s what I do in this case. While the display panel is still disassembled, I turn on the laptop and wait until image appears on the screen. Then I move the video cable a little bit without touching the LCD screen. If moving/touching the video cable affects image on the screen, it’s possible that there is a problem with the cable. Apparently there’s a short somewhere inside the cable. In this case, replacing the video cable may fix the problem.
3. If reconnection the cable doesn’t help and moving/touching the cable doesn’t change image at all and the only way to get better picture is moving/touching the LCD screen itself, apparently there is a problem with the LCD and it has to be replaced.

oke
