Question about British Telecom Response 75 Digital Answering Machine
My response 75 since having a blip in power was displaying a 8 and now its displaying a y. I have unplugged everything and removed the battery, but when i plug power in the Y comes back. You can`t do anything with it.
We found the problem was with the power. In our case, plugging the adaptor into the power outlet directly, bypassing an extension and checking the outlet was working with a lamp. The error lights you describe were the exact same that we were getting, caused by low battery levels.
Hope that helps someone.

Tips for a great answer:
Sep 07, 2012 | NEC AccuSync LCD92VXM-BK - LCD display -...
If the control senses a keypad pressed for more than 75 seconds then it will display an 8 error.
There is a membrane/interface test that you can enter and run if you don't mind a little do-it-yourself.
The image below will show you how to enter and run the membrane test.
If you can not enter the test or some keypads are not responsive then you will need to replace the console/membrane. You can obtain the console from this link.
