Question about DE-1743 Radar Detector
I HAVE A WHISTLER 1743 THE POWER CORD BLEW & WHEN IT DID IT SMOKED..WENT TO RADIO SHACK & BOUGHT NEW POWER CORD & 1 HR OF HAVING IT PLUGGED IN THE UNIT WAS SO HOT YOU COULD BARELY HOLD IT..NOW I AM AFFAIRD IT IS GONNA CATCH FIRE..IS THERE A KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THESE? ARE THEY ON RECALL? WHAT CAN I DO TO GET IT REPLACED?

The fuse in the power cord should be no higher than 2 amps to protect your electrical system, so double check that the power cord that you purchased has a fuse in it and its no more than 2 amps. The 1743 model came with a 1 year warranty.
