Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

1 Answer

I have a toro lawn mower. For the last 3 seasons the carb get srcewed up. Usually early in the season. The mower just stalls, and then will not stay running. It seems like it just runs out of fuel. What could cause this problem? The local repiar shop just replaces the carb, with no ideas how to prevent the issue. I'm about ready to scrap this mower, and its only 5 years old

If replacing the carb fixes the issue it is likely just dirty or bad fuel in the old one. make it a habit of running your mower out of fuel at the end of the season and ALWAYS use a fuel stabilizer in your outdoor power equipment fuel

Toro leaking gas through air filter

The inlet needle in the carb is leaking, it may be the activating arm has stuck, remove the float bowl and gently work the float up and down a few times, make sure the needle is moving. Failing that replace the needle valve.

Toro GTS 20332 (bought it 12 months ago) won't run

I believe that Toro Guarantees to start 1 Pull, was gas left in it all winter?, If so this is'nt covered under warranty, cause gas is to be ran out or dumped out at end of season this will prevent any gumming up of carb . did you completely disassemble carb? does it have a primer on it, those gskts need replacing, clean out the jet in bottum of float bowl, small holes, sometimes missed and remove and check your needle/seat to make sure that when float drops gas runs out then lift float up and gas should stop. hope this helped you, another thing spray carb cleaner in carb and pull over and see if it will start that way enough to keep running with choke to see if it will **** gas into it

P have a Toro riding mower and found that when I drained the oil it appeared to have gas in it. Last season near the end of the year it would blow a black liquid out the exhaust when it started.

It seems the carburetor is flooding and overflowing into the crankcase. This is a common problem. Need to determine what type of carb. you have: Walbro or Nikki to suggest a fix. Some simply put an in-line shut off valve between the tank and the carb. and turn the fuel "off" when they are not using the mower. You will need to change the oil and oil filter (if you have one). Hope this helps.

When engaging the deck mower the motor slows, rather than regaining RPMs as the throttle is increased to max (Rabbit). The mower actually slows even more in thicker grass and occasionally stalls. ...

have you removed the sediment bowl located on the bottom of the carburetor and looked to see if there is a lot of dirt and gunk in the bowl, then while this bowl is off there will be a float (metal or plastic) make sure theres a good supply of gas running out of here where the bowl would normally be,if not, then it could be a plugged needle seat or port in your carb and will need to be cleaned

My 6.75hp toro lawnmower doesn't stay running,I changed sparkplug, filter beginning of the season, what's causing it to stall out, please help it seems I have trouble with all lawnmowers,my 4th mower in 10...

Are you leaving old gas in the mower for long periods of time(30days)?
Gas will tend to varnish up and do all kinds of havic to your carb.
I would check for spark when it shuts off.

I have the same mower and problem. Found out the issue was the carburetor. Pull the Carb and do a quick cleaning. Order the replacement kit prior to working on. My bowl o-ring was shot and I couldn't get a seal after cleaning it out.

Batter life in the second season

When batteries are only used seasonally, and they are stored, they can become damaged from weather or from storing them when they are not fully charged. In general, batteries used seasonally will have a shorter lifespan, so it sounds like you likely need a new battery. Check out http://www.batteryinternational.com/electric-lawn-maintenance-batteries.html for a replacement, and be sure to charge it fully before storing.

My Toro self perpelled lawn mower starts then conks out.

It sounds like your fuel system is plugged up (or water in the carb) First i would make sure there is good fuel supply to the carb, then if so & not running, I would remove the carb and clean as it appears that it is running properly otherwise. Also check your air cleaner element as it may be totally plugged up.. Hope this helps you, Rick

Sounds like a lack of fuel. If it has a briggs motor replace fuel pump diaphram in carb.
