It depends, if it just jammed - to unjam it in to normal working order - $50-$100
If any of the internal parts are damaged/broken - not economical at all.

The autofocus stopped working on this lens. Can it be fixed and if so, do you know how much it might cost?

You would do best by bringing the lens to a camera repair facility for an inspection and repair estimate.

Nikon 1 won't turn on after dropping it. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy a whole new unit or having Nikon fix it for nearly the same cost?

So many things can be broken, dislodged or forced out of alignment when a camera is dropped that it is impossible to make an assessment without looking at the camera. You should contact Nikon USA or a camera repair shop and have them look at the camera and give you a repair estimate even if they charge for the estimate. It may be something simple or it could be complex. When they give you an estimate without actually examining the camera, they give you a worst case cost. Although the Nikon 1 is not a high end camera like my D800, it does cost several hundred dollars and repair is probably worth pursuing. Once it is repaired, I would talk to your insurance agent about adding a camera floater to you home owner's policy. I pay about $10 per $1,000 coverage per year for my cameras with Farmers.

.i accidentally dropped my nikon

The most recent estimate I received for replacing a lens mount on a Nikon lens was 55 USD. If you want to do the replacement yourself, you can order the part from

depending on which 55-200mm lens you have.

Dropped my sony digital DSC-W370 14.1 and the lens would not close. Have taken it to camera repair shops but they want to charge more than I payed for camera. Would like to know if I can try to close lens...

The lens error is due to failure of the lens control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service center on a reasonable estimate as some of the costs are high and hence they charge more.If the get estimate is high then you decide to scrap and go for a new model.Since some of the spares are available only with Sony service, this must be thought of, as you do not have to run around for spares.
However if the camera works without the lens shutting try and use it without any repair as Sony would have estimated for lens mechanism assembly

I will be important to have the estimate on the work with the Samsung service so as to confirm if the work is worth the cost.
It will be important to check the availability of the part prior to deciding the work to be done.

On my camera when i turn it on the lens keeps opening and closing and on my screen it says "turn off and on again" and when i do that the lens keeps opening and closing and it doesn't work. Can you help me...

This is the most common problem with dig cameras. The reason being that there are tiny gears inside the lens assembly, that operate it. When a tooth gets broken off, or some dirt, lint, sand, etc., gets in the lens assembly, a gear can get jammed. When this happens, the camera cannot "initialize" and be ready to take pictures. There is an excellent blog about this problem. It is listed under the lens error category, but it applies to all lens malfunctions, and the one you're having. Here it is:
Try their suggestions. They say about 50% of the cameras can be fixed trying their free fixes. If nothing works for you, and you decide to have it repaired, get an estimate first. The cost of repair can easily exceed the cost of a new camera. Good luck, and hope this helps!

Scree is frozen and AF in red letters is flashing

Something is awry with the lens assembly, where the focusing takes place. Sometimes when the camera gets bumped with the lens out, or obstructed from opening, a gear can get stripped, broken, or some other plastic piece in the assembly can get damaged. In that case, the lens cannot be driven to the right place for auto-focusing, and the computer will detect that and give an error message. There is a site that elaborates on things you can try, that might fix the problem if it's just "sprung" out of position, etc. Try their suggestions first, but if you can't get it back working, service will be required. Get an estimate first, however, because often the cost of repair these days is more than the price of replacing the camera. Here's the site, and good luck!

Screen is black like the lens is closed, I believe the inner lens is not opening.

Are you sure your lcd display isn't broken? I don't know if the lens assembly has an inner screen, but if it's not working, it's the gear mechanism that's broken, and will require servicing. Cheaper to buy a new one, on sale, if the cost is too much to service it. A repair shop should be able to give you a ballpark estimate.

Can a broken lens on a nikon coolpix be fixed

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Anything can be fixed, its more of a cost thing now.

It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you
