Question about Cullmann Magic 2 2722 Tripod

1 Answer

Think its call cullmann magic tripot. The one you can make a monopod out of. The legs twist to lock and unlock. The upper leg on one side is extended out and won't go back up inside the first section. It dosen't lock or unlock just spins around. I see a spanner nut on that section. Wonder if it can be taken apart and fixed.

Is this new to you William?

The legs don't have a slide, they are twist-lock legs. Or do you need spare parts? In which case try Henry's.

Manfrotto 685B locking problem

I had the same problem with the Manfrotto 685B, and it was due to the grease from the middle section leaking into its locking mechanism. I fixed the problem by: 1. Detach the middle from the bottom section by twisting the metal hub between them counterclockwise. 2. Wipe the grease off from the middle section's locking mechanism, especially from the three gray protrusions. 3. Use a bit of dish detergent to degrease the inside shaft of the bottom section. 4. Dry thoroughly. 5. Reassemble the section back, pressing the monopod release lever to facilitate the insertion. Reclose the metal hub. Ha! Fixed!!1!1!!eleven1!!

I have a Manfrotto 685B monopod that I have had for about a year. Recently I noticed that it has gotten very hard to extend or retract the leg sections of pod. I looks like there is a wax substance on top...

If it was second-hand or pre-owned, the previous owner may have applied some form of lubricant to it. From a look at the images on the Net, it appears that the upper sections are adjusted by twist grips. If this is so, just unscrew them and separate the leg sections carefully, after which they can be cleaned. There may be a bevelled collar within, to grip the section - be careful with it.
The bottom section seems to have a standard lever lock. There should be a couple of screws holding this to the middle section - loosen these, then slide the leg portion out and clean it as well. When re-assembling this part DO NOT over tighten the screws - just enough to prevent the locking collar from moving.

Reassembling telescopic sections for a 676B monopod

Each leg lock has a leg locking lever and a screw that hold the clamp assembly tight to the leg. Unlock the leg lock lever, loosen the screw above it that holds the clamp tight to the leg. The legs should fit into each other sice each leg is slightly larger or smaller then then next one. Slide the clamps in the approprite places and tighten the screw enough to hold the clamp assembly tight, but do not over tighten it. Over tightening will damage the 679 tubes.

Cannot unscrew leg for unipod off with plastic piece included.

I carefully used a needle nose lock pliers on the plastic part with channel locks on tripod leg and was able to loosen the part.

Leg clamp tightening adjustment on a 055 tripod.Under weight the leg telescopes in on itself. Clamp doesnot grip tightly enough on the middle diameter leg tube.

There should be a nut on the other side of the housing of the tightening lever that you can tighten. Turn the lever to unlock the leg then start with 1/8 th turns of the nut to tighten, then turn the lever to lock the leg. Do this until you get the desired locking.

The leg is slightly off the track, which is a curved piece which fits along the tripod support rail. If you're not careful when collapsing the legs you'll force the leg to go off-track like this.

One Leg has loss it's grip.

take it apart, there is a rubber ring like a belt or rubber band, either broken or missing. you will have to find a relacement for that, may have to take apart another leg to have one to compare, course I don't honestly know where you will find that piece. too take it apart just keep spinning the lock counterclockwise until it comes off. good luck.
