Scan system for unwanted software, malware, and viruses. Use msconfig under the startup tab and uncheck any of the listed software that can be run by you (webcam Adobe Acrobat or Reader, and other programs), so that it doesn't need to run when windows starts. this will go a long way towards helping the system run better.
IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS, GET HELP WITH IT. You can mess it up so your computer will not start.

Internet explorer is crashing every now and then

First, run your virus and spyware scanning programs to make sure you aren't the victim of enemy action.
Second, go to Windows Update and click on the check for updates button. Note: it will take a while for the scan, download and install. You can do other things on the computer while you wait.
Third, make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (you may be able to find the version number listed in the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel). If you have had a recent virus infection, you may want to remove Flash and reinstall it to replace possibly corrupted Flash files. If you are having the problem only on pdf pages, repeat this procedure wit Adobe Reader to replace the Reader plugin.
The Java engine on your computer may be the culprit, but that is often updated by Windows Update. Again, if necessary, remove and reinstall.

How to install microsoft office 2007???

First, you need to upgrade your XP Pro to Service Pack 3. XP with Service pack 2 is an end-of-life product which Microsoft no longer actively supports. After you install SP3, there will be about 90-100 more Windows updates to install. They should do so automatically.
Then once you have updated Windows and scanned for viruses (since you have only SP2, there is a good change that some malware may have made it onto the system.

Now all you have to do is insert the Office 2007 DVD into your computer and the installation process should begin.

Download malware bytes and run a scan. Remove the dangerous things. If it won't let you, you will have to run this in Safe mode of your computer.

Help, I can't install Adobe Reader as it says another program is being installed and I need to wait until it is terminated --- I have the same problem with Itunes Update. I am using Windows Vista. Thanks,...

Try running Malwarebytes free version from a usb drive if possible. Once you download it onto the drive rename it from MBAM.exe to winlogon.exe (a virus may be the prolem and no virus will look twice at winlogon as it is a system process), then boot to safe mode and send malwarebytes to desktop (create shortcut), intall update and run full scan).Follow instructions for getting rid of malware.
If that doesn't work, try bringing up task manger (you can try this first but just reboot into safe mode before installing malwarebytes)and click processes tab look for and end any Adobe processes
and also any updating processes (they will comeback after reboot). then try downloading your Adobe reader. Good luck.

If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving a good rating and a quick thanks
or good job.It will help me as well Thank you.

If possible, try to run your computer in safe mode. Use Malware Bytes to scan and remove virus. If it won't open as an .exe, try changing it's extension.

Windows explorer not initiated at startup and hangs the system,

I had this XP problem with Norton recent after SP3 got on.
Clean install and no antivirus, straight afterwards a bootable CD with SP3 then I replace already removed Norton with Avast virus scanner.
Superfast, all problems I ever had gone. Likely the scanner.

Check for Highjackers, Malware, Viruses, or anything else that could have screwed with the OS. Sounds to me you had something wrong with your computer before SP3 was added. Personally if it was me I would back up all my data to a CD or thumb drive and wipe the computer clean and start over. You could try System Restore and remove SP3 but that only bandaids the issue.

Have a good one.

Savedump.exe error

Hi there
Savedump.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. The file is a Windows core system file. The program has no visible window. savedump.exe is a Microsoft signed file. Therefore the technical security rating is 4% dangerous.
Some malware camouflage themselves as savedump.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the savedump.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. I recommend Security Task Manager for verifying your computer's security.

If you want to get the full potential of 64bit processor then you will have install XP X64 and yes i'm sure SP3 will install.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

I cannot open any programs because an adobe reader message pops up saying that the program is not a supported file type or damaged. this comes up for every program on my computer

Uninstall Adobe reader and download it again from if that is not where you got it the first time. Those icons and messages all indicate a virus or malware so go to Windows update and ensure that you have their free malware removal toll installed and do a full system virus scan. Steve
