Question about HP LaserJet 1022n Printer

1 Answer

Laserjet 1022n and Universal Print Driver

When printing to a LJ1022n using Word or Excel 2003 the printer prints out garbage. It seems to work fine using a pcl6 driver. We house all our printer queues on a Windows 2003 and push the drivers to workstations.

Many people are saying to drop the PCL drivers and move to UPD. So we configured a new server to setup UDP queues only on it to test out.

Thanks

Jim

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.

Will not work on a Linksys print server.

LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.

Can't find sharp ar-bc320 driver for 64bit, there's only PCL5 driver which won't work, we need PCL6 driver for this model.

Sharp does not natively support or provide a PCL6 driver for this device. That being said, another possible workaround to provide you with a PCL6 driver for this is to try the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 x64bit. This driver simply prints direct to the IP address that the printer uses on the network. You may sacrifice a few special features of the device using this driver, but I've had excellent success with it and recommend trying it.
Here's a link to the driver:

Hope this helps!

I had this problem today too. What I did to fix it was to change the printer driver from the UDP 5.1 PCL5 to UDP 5.1 PCL6. It looks like this printer works better using a PCL6 driver.
