The laptop would work for an hour or two then shut off. This continued for a week then the laptop started rebooting it self never letting me into the desktop pane. Did a system check and found that a 'system dump' was taking place. So now What?

Computer Keeps Rebooting - cannot access Safe Mode
1. Boot up with Windows installation CD 2. It will give you the option to use RECOVERY CONSOLE 3. Type chkdsk to check disk - this fixes bad blocks and moves data to another area. 4. When completed, remove Windows installation CD and reboot computer

Voice light computer has been shutting down and will only work after rebooting with power switch. At first it shut down rarely, maybe once every two months. Then it became once a month, once a week and...

This is likely one of two things:

A power supply issue in which case you have the power supply replaced.

The server is overheating. There could be many reasons for this: Dust, loose parts, bad ventilation, etc.

Shut Down and Reboot With No Display

I can tell you, screen issues are one of the problems that goes with a laptop that is GOING TO FAIL OR ALREADY HAS FAILED.

I have this model laptop in the F500 series and mine has already failed.

Go to hplies.com and you will see almost 2,000 users with the same issue. The problem lies with the nVIDIA GFX chip on the motherboard. THE ISSUE IS UNREPAIRABLE. Any repairs will force the laptop to fail again.

This issue has actually landed me in small claims court where I am suing for hte full cost of this laptop because not only is hte laptop defective, nVIDIA admitted it, and HP covered it up.

Join us at hplies.com and we will give you the know how to get this issue fixed/your $ back. We even have links to all of the information!

Send me a PM if you want more assistance.

Reboot and while its rebooting keep tapping on F8 to go to Safe Mode. Once in Safe Mode select "Last known good configuration" and press Enter. If that doesn't work continue to go to Safe Mode and do System Restore to an earlier date of before this happened
