Gas dryer does not heat igniter glows red gas valve clicks but no flame

Hello,

Since the igniter glows i am wondering if within 1 minutes does it go off??or does the igniter just stay on??

If the igniter just stays on and doesnt go off the problem is going to the FLAME SENSOR

if the igniter goes off but no flame the problem will be the GAS VALVE COILS

Ignitor is lighting but silinoid is not opening to let gas through.Roper model # RGS7646KQ3

Hello,

Hello,
Your have one of two problem causing the gas to not come on on your dryer.
1) the flame sensor is bad...if the igniter comes on and stays on and doesn't go off...usually within 1 minute the flame sensor isn't working as its supposed to
2) the coils on the gas valve could be the problem...if the igniter does indeed go off within 1 minutes and as soon as the igniter goes off if their is no flame the coils on the gas valve is what would need to be replaced
here is what each part looks like

Everything works but the gas dont kick on when the pilet comes on what can i do

Hello Anthony,

Thier is one of two things causing the dryer to not heat depending on what you see happening will determine what the exact problem is;

The gas valve coils are bad...if the igniter comes on and goes off but no flame the coils on the gas valve will be whats bad

The flame sensor is whats wrong... if the igniter comes on AND STAYS ON and does not go off (usually within 1 minute) the flame sensor is going to be what the problem is

HI I HAVE A MAYTAG DRYER AND I HAVE CHANGED THE COILS AND THE THERMALFUSE AND STILL THE IGNITOR IS GLOWING BUT STILL NO FLAME ALSO BEFORE I CHANGED THE THERMAL FUSE I HAD A FLAME BUT NO HEAT IN THE DRUM...

Hello,
Is the igniter coming on,staying on for 30-45 seconds then goes off? or does it not go off at all?
i am going to assume that it does not go off.the problem when it never goes off followed by a flame is because the flame switch/also called the radient sensor is bad.
If that is what your experiencing replacing the flame switch will fix that dryer. The part# for that is 338906

My gas dryer will not get warm

Can you hear the flame come on at all? If you can hear the flame come on in the beginning but then as time goes on it doesn't, you need to replace both coils (solenoids) on the gas valve.

Take the front panel off and watch the operation of the dryer. You should see the glow from the ignitor come on and get very hot, then hear the click of the coil releasing the gas, which will allow the flame to ignite. If you see the flame come on, stay there and keep an eye on the time.

After about 5 minutes if the coils click but the flame doesn't come on, you've just proved you need the coils.

If you have a meter you can check for continuity or ohm out the ignitor to see if that is your culprit. A less likely repair would be to replace the flame sensor.

Kitchen aid dryer / heat flame not staying on after 20 secs

Sounds like your gas valve is fine, if it comes on at all, its good. A air flow restriction would cause a overheat condition and shut down the burner. Once it cools back down the burner would re-ignite and repeat the cycle. The sensor on the left of the burner is the flame sensor and the flame wouldn't come on at all if it was bad. You've already changed the coil kit so the valve is fine, disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and see if the problem goes away. If the problem stays, I would suspect the thermostat. Good luck.

My gas dryer starts fine than the flame goes out

replace the coils. i promise you. and here is a guide to most gas dryer problems that even a kid can see.

starts fine, cycles off, igniter comes on, hear a click, and no flame.-coils.
(can also be intermintent)

igniter stays on, no flame.-flame sensor

no glow from igniter.-igniter

remember, always allow about one minute for ignition.
