Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

I havean HP 2600n, anything red prints in a faded yellow. I've seen other posting regarding this put all answers suggest something wrong with the printer. However, when I had a supplies status page printed, all the colors showed up fine. I've tried removing and reinstalling the printer with no change. Any thoughts?

Change the cartridges. Theres nothing else that can alter the color like that without rewriting the drivers. B4 you do, take each one out, shake gently from side to side to even out any toner, and try again. If they print better, your toner is low.

Color is offset and blurred. There is no problem printing in black. Printing test page shows the same symptoms.

Hello
The color of HP LJ 2600n fades due to following reasons
1. the color cartridge near to empty 2. due to dust on reflection mirrors inside the printer
if the color cartridges are OK, then you need help of HP technician support, because cleaning of mirrors is very technical in nature for 2600n.
Dusty Environments can lead to Laser Scanner Contamination. The dust layer on the mirrors prevents proper transmission of the laser output in the imaging system leading to faded colors on the printed page. The initial stages of this failure typically occur in the magenta or yellow color planes as faded or light color. Often the left side is more faded than the middle.
You may need to contact the nearest Authorized Service Tech and get teh Laser Scanner replaced with the new released service part that has a mirror in a location where the dust ideally cannot reach easily.
Also, please ensure that the printer is relocated from the current location to a more dust free zone.
Hope this helps, if so do rate the solution

Is there something I can clean on my HP Laserjet 2600n. I've done the recalibration and things that are built into the menu system. The colors appear faded, especially red. There's an echo-type of...

Using the REPORTS MENU print the "color supplies status". Make sure everything is good.
Select SYSTEM SETUP. Select PRINT QUALITY. Select CALIBRATE COLOR. Select CALIBRATE NOW.
Check the Transfer Belt(ETB) which is inside the front door. Make sure that it is free of your "racing stripes".
You can use HP TOOLBOX to troubleshoot.
You are using HP cartridges???

I cannot print a document in red without the left side fading and turning yellow instead of red.

Hi !! that is something called laser scanner contamination, behind the magenta catridge there is a little piece of glass wich is the laser scanner. clean the glass run at least 3 cleaning modes and then sent a test page and see if it gets fixed.
if not take the printer to a service center to make a deeper cleaning or in the worst case scenario to replace the lase scanner This is a link will help you find a local Hp Authorized repair center with your zipcode : http://h20465.www2.hp.com/GPL/search.aspx?language_code=en&country_code=us&SearchType=SSP

MY HP ''COLOR LASER JET 2600n'' HAS FUOLL INK CARTRIDGES BUT THE PRINTING IS REALLY DULL AND FADED LOOKING. CAN ANYONE HELP? TERRY M.

This is a common problem with this model of printer. The scanner optic degenration is due to dust buildup on mirrors and lenses. Since the most vulnerable mirror reflects its laser beam to the magenta toner cartridge, red tones are the first to show fading. Colours shift: purples turn blue and oranges turn yellow. The printer will need to be cleaned by a certified HP technician to resolve this issue as it means dismantling your printer to fix the problem.

Print is not clear , when we are printing light print is coming, we have already changed the cartridge but the problem is still there

You need to see if the problem is coming from all of the colors or just one. You can print an internal test sheet or just print something with cyan, magenta, yellow and black to see if one or all of them are faded.
If all of the colors are faded and you have already replaced the cartridges then check the fuser unit. It is possible that the toner isn't fusing properly.

Red color not printing right

2600N Optics file on the HP forum page. Or email me at mcchord@comcast.net and I will send you the file on red color fading. The file says that if you are getting light red fading or orange to use the File I mentioned to resolve.

Colors are uneven, too much green on the right side and too much red on the left

The internal optics are dirty. It's a known problem that HP's been ignoring.  More info is here:  http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1202453734788+28353475&threadId=1073731

Detailed instructions are on this page - look for Don Thompson's posting at Sep 15, 2007 23:38:51 GMT and click the papercliip to see the procedure. It's not for the faint of heart.

HP 2600N- only printing solid yellow sheets

This is easy enough - ring HP and tell them to come and replace it. If the machine is less than 30 days old (i believe) you are entitled to class it as DOA and receive a new machine rather than a fix. The solid colour is indicative of a process engine/formatter fault
