Have you tried starting it again? It might have stopped because it overheated and now that it has cooled it should start again. If not, then possibly the power switch or power cord has failed.

Dyson DC25 brush won't spin when touching the floor. If I lift it off the floor it spins, once it touches the floor it stops. Any idea what the problem is?

I can think of three things that could be wrong.

The easiest one is that the brush has hair and fluff wrapped around its bearing. This happened to me and was causing a burning rubber smell. Turn it over and remove the base plate. Lift the belt by putting a piece of cord under it and slide the brush out. Remove one end of the brush and slide the spindle out. Clean all the hair out and reassemble.

The internal drive belt is worn, or the nylon bush that it runs on.

The clutch is worn out.

The last two are not as easy to fix as the main drive belt is enclosed in the centre of the clutch. There are videos though that show you the process. Have a read and a watch, but try my first tip first.

When i am vacumming i can nly do 1 room at a time because th dyson d40 shuts off, comes back after about 15 mins, then shuts off after every room.

Hi Fran, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson vacuums, DC40 will shut off for protection if it starts to overheat. This will often be due to a blockage - the filters may also need a wash. The machine should reset itself automatically after it's had time to cool down - however, please follow the steps below to prevent this from reoccurring.

To check for blockages, please follow each of the checkpoints shown in our online Support guides: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc40/dc40-animal-tft/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/removing-blockages-from-the-main-body

    http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc40/dc40-animal-tft/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/removing-blockages-from-the-wand-and-hose

In normal use, both filters should be washed at least once a month using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine:

I'm confident removing any blockages and washing both filters will resolve the issue. However, Dyson experts are on hand to help, and you're welcome to get in touch directly if you'd like any further assistance. Have you checked the rotary brush at the front. Although IO dont have the same model of dyson I need to clean out the dog hairs that get wrapped around the main rotary brush which is easily got to by turning the catches with a coin under the cleaning head. They should have a little arrow or padlock symbol showing which way to turn them

    Dyson DC35 Handheld Vacuum

Hi Laurie, it's Jack at Dyson.

We'd advise against dismantling your DC35 any further than is shown in the user guide, as this could cause damage to the machine. DC35's V2 digital motor is manufactured in a clean-room environment - it should not be removed from the main body.

If your DC35 doesn't seem to be working correctly we'd appreciate the opportunity to take some further details. You can reach our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

MY DYSON DC27 TOTAL CLEAN VACUUM CLEANER HAS AIR BLOWING FROM AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE DIRT BIN. IS THIS NORMAL

Hi Pamela, it's Jack at Dyson.

Underneath the clear bin is the exhaust outlet, where clean, filtered air is returned to the room after passing through the machine. This is totally normal and part of the machine's design.

I hope this clears things up, but if you do have any further questions please email askdysonUS@dyson.com with your contact details, and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible. You can also find help online by visiting www.dyson.com/support

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

To fix any you vacuum problem, a proper maintenance will do the trick. Most of the time cleaning the filters, checking for blockages and clearing the passageways, and cleaning the brush roll assembly will resolve this. And if after doing maintenance it is still the same, that replacing the parts will most of the time make your vacuum work like brand new.

Dyson DC07 main filter can it be removed to clean?

Yes, remove the dust bin and set it aside. Using a small screw driver gently pry on the lid that the dust bin sits on. you'll see little holes to insert a screw driver and pry back on the lid. Start on one side and pry at the three points to insert a screw driver and then remove the lid and replace the HEPA filter with a new one from EBay, local vacuum store, Dyson direct, etc. That filter is not washable.

Unfortunately your motor had burnt up..most times this is due to not cleaning or replacing the filters...the filters get dirty and the motor gets no airflow to cool it....very common on dyson vacs

So, if anything causes it to overheat, it will switch off. If this happens, leave the cleaner switched off for at least two hours, as it will not start again until it has cooled down.
The most common cause of a cut-out is that the cleaner has a blockage or the filter needs washing. A high room temperature may also trigger it. Before you continue vacuuming, ensure the filter is clean and there are no blockages. You can download the user guide at www.dyson.co.uk/support/.
