Question about Garden

My new sprayer will not pick up the solution.

I own an ortho tree sprayer. I put solution in the bottle and connected it to the hose.

Only water comes out, no solution??
Why is that.

Thanks,

Terry

Terry - I did the same thing and am frustrated. Anxious to see the answer. I have tried "backflushing" per instructions, and running yardtrimmer line up the nozzle to check for debris.

Siphon just does not work. Even with clear water.

Your pump cam follower may be broken, such that the pump is just not working. If you open it up and find that the cam follower plastic tabs are broken, Gilmore provides a second set of 2 cam followers on the other side of the cam follower assembly. Just remove some screws, reverse the assembly, and you are back in business.

I am confused. Your driveway weed killer says 1 quart per one gallon of water, and the dial n spray has just ounces on the top up to 8 ounces and up to 32 ounces to be filled on the side of container....

Hey, sorry for the confusion. Actually Ortho GroundClear can not be used in the Dial N Spray Hose End Sprayer because this sprayer will only dilute up to 8oz per gallon. This dilution rate is not enough for the product to be effective in keeping the area clear of vegetation. Hope this clears it up.

Can I dilute Scotts Miracle Grow for use in my Ortho dial spray bottle?

Yes, you can use Miracle-Gro Water Soluable Plant Food in the Ortho Dial N Spray hose-end sprayer. Simply set the dial on the Dial N Spray to 4 ounces. The label rate for Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food is 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. To make 8 gallons of finished spray, measure 8 rounded tablespoons of plant food into the Dial N Spray jar and fill the jar with water. Mix thoroughly. Set the dial at 4 ounces. When you have sprayed until jar is empty, you will have applied 8 gallons of properly diluted spray. Hilary@Scotts

The contents in the bottle doesn't come out

Open the continer is there a small piece of hose connected to the lid if not connect it. the water creates a suction through the hose when it passes over the hole inside the continer to spray the contents of the bottle.

Using Ortho weed and crabgrass concentrate... what setting do i use on my Ortho hose end sprayer

Here is what they say at their site:

{ ...
How do I use the Ortho Dial 'N Spray Multi-Use Hose-End Sprayer?
Pour product into jar, and set dial to amount indicated on product label and begin spraying. This sprayer siphons product and mixes while spraying; it does not mix inside the sprayer.

Which means it is not determined by Scotts, but by the product you want to disperse with the Dial N Spray.

And here is an exact description of the settings:

{ ... There are 14 settings in all and they range from 1 teaspoon per gallon up to 8 ounces per gallon. You will find the dial at the on the top of the sprayer. ... }

sound like the inside suction hose is loose or not fitting correctly. i had a similar problem and wrapped some duct tape around the tube then snugly fit it inside the cap. no outside air suction and it works fine. i've had mine going on 15 years and use it constantly.

Instructions for using ortho tree sprayette

The Ortho Tree and Shrub Sprayette has a fixed mixing jet set to a 24:1 ratio. 5.3 ounces of spray concentrate in the jar will mix to produce 1 gallon of diluted spray. The jar has a capacity of 42.7 ounces, so you can spray up to 8 gallons with 1 filling. If you look at the side of the jar, you will see two filling scales. On the left is the diluted spray capacity, and on the right is the concentrate scale. So you will see 8 gallons opposite 32 ounces, for instance.

You must dilute concentrates to the 24:1 mixing concentration. So if your concentrate says 1 ounce/gallon, and you want to spray 6 gallons, put in 6 ounces and add water to the jar to the 32 ounce level.
