Question about Onkyo TX-NR905 Receiver

Lost video signal to monitor (TV)

1.5 years old. Was working fine, turned it off and left for grocery store, returned and no video on the TV (which is now working fine since I have bypassed the reciever with the cable signal. Audio works fine.

TV was connected to S-Video out on Reciever. I tried connecting using composite video, and it still didn't work.

I had the same problem - Onkyo had me reset the unit by holding down VCR and pushing the power button. Make sure you record your settings before doing this - as the unit will be fully reset. This solved the video problem for me.

Hello.
First you have to figure out location of problem. That means is it inside of your new TV or outside of it?
Best way is to connect DVD player with new set of wires to different input and make sure it is working fine picture and sound wise. If OK - connect it to the same input that you are using with satellite box right now. If it works just fine - problem is outside of TV and originated in box or connection cable.
If DVD player does not work on any input - you have to call your TV manufacturer and schedule an appointment for repair tech. It is should be free of charge because you have 1-year warranty.
Or you can simply return/exchange your TV at the store you purchased it from (depend on store policy).
Regards.
Russ.

Hp vs17 has white screen at boot. I have eliminated the chord from the tower and the tower works fine. I have audio, no video. Only a white blank screen. It does not blink or flicker. It just stays white....

There are three choices here...bad screen, bad connection, or bad video card, if the card is integrated onto the motherboard, then that part of the motherboard could be bad. If you have access to another monitor or a TV with a vga input, try the computer with another monitor. If you get a signal on that other monitor then you know you either had a bad connection with the other monitor or you lost the screen on the old one. Go back and reseat your video connections with the computer off. Don't ever remove or move cables to the monitor and video with the computer running...the screen can suffer permanent damage. If there is no signal on any monitor, then either you have a bad vga cord or your video graphics card had died.

''no signal'' message on blue screen after watching for 10-30 min

First try another signal input like a DVD player or other source, is the signal displayed ok? Then you have lost the signal on one input from whatever the device is.

It sounds very normal; when the video signal from the computer disappears, most late monitors will go to standby mode but most will also tell you it's going to sleep with some kind of message.
Turning the main system off doesn't normally disconnect the AC from the monitor so what you describe is that the monitor is plugged into a receptacle of its own, not one that you are turning off with the PC.
BTW, PCs and TVs (including monitors) aren't really 'off' when they are off. They have a small amount of current drain that serves to keep alive certain circuits so they can respond to, for example, the return of the video signal or, in the case of a TV set, a command to power up from your remote. They could not respond unless they can interpret the signal to wake up.

Monitor no signal

Check to see if there is more than one 15-pin monitor connection on the back of your computer. If there is, try plugging the video cable into the other one.

Is this a new monitor? Was it working before this? Does your computer sound like it is starting up normally?
