Get the word stop and then E2 code

  • neal_bowie May 26, 2010

The portable air conditioner is an Amana 14000. It has dual hoses. We had just begun to set it up for the season. It is only 3 years old. When you turn it on it brings up the menu and then immediately displays the word stop and then the code E2

Check the water level switch/float. It may be stuck in the "full water level" position. Inspect the cords and inside you unit for anything that is causing short circuit. Cleaning your unit with a strong air blower might also help.

You need to check pump filter. It could be jammed with a coin or hair clip. Now take the machine outside and empty it then lay it on its side and you can access the pump. Take it off, stand up the machine and pour hot water into the soap draw and check water should run out of bottom freely taking any fluff or bits with it. Now take apart the pump and clean it and dry all components before re-assembly. If the machine still doesn?t work then you need to replace the pump.

We get an E2 message which I assume is some type of error code.

UNIT WILL NOT COOL. FAN AND HUMIDIFIER WORK. THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND SEASON USED AND THE UNIT HAS NEVER BEEN SITTING UP AND NEVER LAID DOWN OR TURNED UP SIDE DOWN. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Hello,
A portable air conditioner may not cool for several reasons. Check the filter by removing the unit's grill and clean the filter.
Also check for clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by light vacuuming. Make sure the evaporator isn't frosted over, but if it is, allow it to defrost and normal operation should resume.
Lastly, ensure the ambient temperature is lower than your AC's set temperature, as this can prevent cooling. However, if all of these steps fail to resolve your problem, the compressor may be malfunctioning, and in this case, the compressor needs to be replaced or repaired.
In summary, if the air won't cool, remove the grill and clean the filter. Clean out any clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by vacuuming them and scrubbing them lightly with an old toothbrush. And since fan is working, you compressor might be defective.
I hope the above information is clear.
Regards.

I used my portable mastercool about 4 times last summer. Now, neither motor will turn on. It is getting power and I checked to make sure all the connections were good. I could not find a trip on the...

If not cleaned out properly at the end of the season rust and scale can make both motors quit. Try unplugging the unit and spinning the blower wheel by hand several time. Then try turning the shaft on the water pump by hand; that may free it up.

If you can get the blower working again you're in business as it's the most expensive part in the unit. Replacement water pumps are $10-$15.

Having to empty the tank every two to three hours

there is a lot of himidity in the air, and it's trying to remove it. that's what it does. but the more you open the door or the windows, the more moist air comes in, making the ac work harder.

Danby ALSO does not cool 3 days old

Take it back where you bought it. A 12,000 BTU unit should be more than enough for a 192 square foot room, so there is some problem with the unit.

When turned on, the unit sounds like it will start then turns off within a minute.

Presently according to my information there is no recalls for Fedders products at this time for this model type.
