Question about Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

I have a Raypak 2100 pool heater. I fired it up this year and it ran for days until it quit giving me a PLT error. The symptoms are that when I turn it on I do not hear the typical electronic spark sound but I can smell the gas. After about 30 seconds I can hear some sounds coming from the PC board area. I don't know if it is related or not but last year the LCD started to act up where some of the characters were not legible and when adjusting the temperature the number displayed would skip around like when increasing it would go from 80 degrees to 98. My guess is that this is all related to either the PC or Igniter board but I wanted to get another opinion before I purchase a new board. Also, if this is due to a bad board the new one from Raypak is a retrofit (part #010253F) that combines all of the other boards into one. So I'm not sure how easy it would be to wire up the new board.

Yes I have read the manual, understand what the error code refers to and their suggested troubleshooting. My question for someone that may be familiar with this type of heater is based on the other symptoms if this sounds like a controller board issue.

Hi, i think you are experiencing a control board problem, because from the detailed explanation you have made above, it's obvious that you need a new board besides i don't think you can wire it yourself because of the complicity of the board..

Take care

Is there a power reset button?

You may want to make certain that the pump is running ( moving water into the heater ) in order to activate the heater. The heater will not try to fire without water moving through it. PLT code means that the Pilot is trying to ignite. If you see nothing on the display, you may want to verify voltage. They are typically wired on the same circuit. Therefore if one has correct power ( activated ) than so should the other.

I have a raypak 2100 heater and it display a PLT code what can i do to fix it it tray to start but shoot down rigth a way

The "PLT" error code means pilot failure. The lack of spark may or may not mean an ignitor problem.

The "PLT" code could come up because the main valve in the heater was in the "off" position. No gas = no pilot. Also check clogged pilot-burner orifices. The lack of spark can also have to do with water flow issues (dirty filter, clogged basket, etc.), or it may be a problem with the electronics of the heater.

After checking the above, a service call by an authorized tech may be necessary.

Raypak 2100 pool heater won't heat, PRS and HL2 error codes.

Well, I replaced the pressure switch with no joy. I tried all 5 levels of pressure 1-5 and every wiring combination. Finally, I returned the new $70 pressure switch and took the 2 wires and tied them together (jumped them). Here's the only downside...If you run your pump in backwash, recirc, waste, or any mode that would cause water to bypass the heater it MUST BE OFF. Otherwise, let it ride. It's working great and I hope to go into October weather permitting.

RayPak 2100 series digital pool heater Code "EOL".

press the mode button until the display reads "off". Remove the four screws holding the control cover on. Swing panel down so that the back of the board is visible. Press the mode button until "RESfl" appear. Press and hold both "up" and "down" buttons for 5-7 seconds until three dashes appear (---). This resets the fault history and clears any stored faults.
