Hey doc45

whenever you eep on printing those black an brown lines on paper, that means that your printer is experiencing faulty drum. this is a common problem for printers which is used overtime.

in regards to ser71,maklean,eagle338 posts...

wat you could do is do a quick fix like these experts has posted. if you do experience same problem... you could also try doing the maintainance steps on the manual which indicates that if there is stillno improvements on the ink printed on the paper, you may want to replace the printhead.

just to be on te safest side, find a replacement printhead for that so that you'll be able to use your printer in no time.

Hold the print head over a steaming kettle take care not to scald yourself. The ink will run out of the bottom of the printhead just dab on a piece of paper towel, when you see black you will have cleaned it. I dont know if this will do any long term damage to printhead but it has worked three times for me

  1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.

  2. Wipe the platen glass (A), white areas (B), and transparent sheet (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water. The MP700 has one even platen glass and does not have an area like the one referenced in area (C).

  3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass.

  4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.

Alarm on: reads wrong cartridge in window

Problem may be due to your not printing for quite some time. The ink can start to dry and clog the print heads.
Use a Q-tip slightly moistened with water to clean cartridge ports and print head.

Prints have lines throughout

Sounds like the printer head is dirty and needs to be cleaned. If after removing the ink cartridge and cleaning the print head with DENATURED ALCOHOL NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL, does not produce clean prints with out the lines, you might need to replace the actual print head mechanism. The print heads do not last forever and need to be replace every so often.

Cheers,

Keith

Lines appearing across printed photographs

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Canon MultiPASS MP700

I had the same problem. My 4 year old MultiPASS MP700 started banding magenta stripes across everything I printed.
I suspected the cyan printhead was clogged because the printhead tests showed two of the cyan columns as half missing.
Canon was less than helpful. I went off of my suspicion that I needed a new printhead. I found one from an online supplier for 50 bucks...better price than a new printer! I put the new print head in and it works like new.

Canon Multipass MP700

When trying to print color documents or photos using our Canon MultiPASS 700, the photo or document will have stripes all the way through it. It has also developed a problem of having fine lines that do not print when we are printing a black and white document.
