Sorry to hear it.

if the line is pixel thin (1 row of pixels - or subpixels (red, green, blue)) then the problem is unfortunately likely a bad plasma panel * i can be other things

if the line is thicker like a bar, it can be a bad buffer IC

there are a whole bunch of buffer ICs that run down the left side (from the back) of the tv. these drive the horiontal rows of the picture (left ro right). on some models, you can replace the board with the bad IC and fix the issue. bad buffer ICs may have a pin hole burned in them, or may just look burnt. the ICs will be in the relative area of the line, you can look at them and see which IC is probably driving that row of the screen.

if you get lucky, or have recently been in there working on the set, sometimes you can "reseat" the cables and get a good connection again. sometimes thats all it needs, hopefully that will solve the issue.

if the line goes top to bottom, there are simmilar ICs that run the vertical columns of the picture but they are not replaceable and definately part of the panel.

let me know if you have more info, we can figure it out 100%

Hello. The horizontal line means the vertical deflection system, probably the amplifier, has failed.

GOOD NEWS: The horizontal deflection and high voltage is probably okay.

Cost of repair: If only the vertical deflection amplifier needs replaced - which is 80% of the case in these sets - then the cost will only be about $60 to $80 if you take the set into the shop.

Above is a user manual, below is your service and repair manual.

This problem is more than likely caused by bad capacitors, most likely in the Horizontal section, so make sure you check them out and replace any bad looking ones, "on 'spec" (upon inspection, regardless) But in any event, please work through the troubleshooting procedures, this should zero you in on any problems. As usual though, start at the Power supply, as if your voltages are NOT correct then nothing else can be.

Have you removed back and looked for bad capacitors they will be swollen, vented, or puffed up on top 1000uf16v,220uf10v,330uf10v? Have tryed resoldering all your boards for loose connections other wise it leads back to Display Panel.

Is the line there always, even if the monitor is connected to a different pc ? If yes then the problem is in the monitor itself, not in the pc.
Is the line there, unchanged, whatever are you running on the display and what ever the resolution ? In that case either the LCD panel of monitor has a flaw (unfixable, replace the entire monitor) or the connections controlling  those lines are bad - open the case and reseat them.
If the line dissapears when you use a different resolution then the problem is in its motherboard's processor - you will have to replace it but finding parts for it will be difficult.

Doesn't matter - same advice, just replace pc with source (AV - of all types - and cable).

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Yes the TV can be repaired if you get the parts easily. From what you have described it seems to be the issue with Y-main however, Y-buffer and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and as I said the parts are not easily available however, you can check this link for parts. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hi,

I would Appreciate,if you could tell me Few Details :-

1. How old is the TV?

2. Press Menu button on the Screen. Kindly tell me whether menu button is above or below the Menu?

3. The Line that you mentioned, does that remains at the same Location. No Movement at all?

4. Is that always there or Diminishes after Few Minutes or Hours?

Let me know,so that we could Proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

If the Lines remains there irrespective of the Mode and Whether you would use DVD / PS3 or any other Output Device, i am sorry to say, however more often it seems like a Panel Fault.

There is no Fix for it. You need to get it replaced. The cost of Panel could be outrageous as compared to the cost of the new one. I could only suggest you, use the TV the way you are using. I agree that it is really frustrating to have a line when watching your favorite channel / Movie, but that's the only solution.

Let me know,so that we could Proceed.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks

Hello,

the horizontal line showing in the middles of your screen indicates that there is a vertical deflection output chip failure on the panel inside the TV.

To solve the problem, you will need to change/replace the vertical output chip. If you are good with electronics repairs, then you can replace it by yourself or ask local TV tech to help you out.

Good luck..

I have a thin horizontal line across my dell latitude laptop screen

If the thin line is always there, you have a set of pixels burned out. This usually occures vertically. There is easy fix, except to replace the screen. If the laptop is under warrenty, contact the manufacture for repair options.

Sorry could not be something easier for you.

My panasonic ct-32g6 has a horizontal line through the middle i can hear the sound but all that comes on the screen is the horizontal line.what is the problem?

The fact that there is a horizontal line on the screen tells you that all circuits are in operation except the vertical circuit , The virtical IC is probaly shorted or the reisitor that supplies voltage for the fly back is open in addition the negative feerback from the signal processor IC can be open also which can cause a horizantal line .You will have to check all dose circuits to seewhat is causing the line

Tv screen is black except for 1 horizontal line of color

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .

Horizontal Line running down my Laptop Computer Screen

You can try changing resolution to something else and then back.
You can see if your colors are 32-bit.
The fact that you "fixed" it is probably an coincidence. Once you start getting anomalies like that, it usually means a new screen.

Horizontal Line through middle of TV screen

This is usually a bad elect capasitor or a bad solder connection on the vertical IC, The capasitors will be close to the vert chip..Sometimes you can clear problem with a light tap on the TV, if so then suspect bad solder.
