Well If you decide to reset the router to the default settings, you will have to change and assign all the security for your home network

Very easy fix.

Look hard at the rear of the router. You will notice a tiny hole that will only fit something very thin, like a paper clip.

Now, find something that fits in this hole that won't break or bend easily. Turn the router on and then gently, but with enough pressure, push it into the hole for several seconds or until you see the modem's lights flicker off and on. This has now reset the modem to its' factory settings and original user and password as per the manual.

If this has helped, your feedback will be welcomed.

I don't remember my password or username. Is there anyway to still en a be able to use it or do a factory reset without logging in?

LOST ROUTER LOGIN PASSWORD
If you have forgotten your personal router login password there is no way to recover it. You will have to reset the router. This means all the settings on the router will be reset to factory defaults. It also means that all your connected devices will need to be connected again with the new security information (WEP, WAP, etc,) . You will need the default admin login name and the default admin password. This can be found in the user guide that came with the router. This can usually be found online at the router manufacturers site.
There is usually a button or a switch hidden in a pinhole opening on the back of the router. Pressing and holding the switch for 10 seconds or so will cause the reset and usually the LEDs will flash and blink for several seconds as the router firmware resets and clears out the old information.
If you are trying to get into someone else's router illegally there is no way to find out their login password.
For future reference, write the password down, or a hint at what the password is, on a piece of tape and secure it on the bottom of the router. I use my cell phone memo function to store all my passwords.

Wireless incorrect Password

Make sure the password and connection name are the same as the ones in your wireless router.
Be aware you need to put the correct password in for every wireless connection you want to use at least once. The device will remember the password for the next time it needs to login.

Trying to connect my kindle to my linksys router, keeps asking for a password.

This is going to be the password that you setup your router with. If you cant remember the password you can reset your router and put in a new password.

How can i find my USERNAME for my netgear as i remember my password and not username

You can't , the data can't be accessed externally. Just reset the router and do all the configuration again - anyway it will be faster than everything else you could try to fix that.

Router Password forgotten

Pam, there is no way to retrieve just the password. You have to reset/reconfigure the router. Have you done router setups before? If not, I suggest you get someone to help you. If you want to try anyway, then have the printed manual next to you as you step through the sequence. Make sure you connect a PC to the router using an ethernet cable & confirm that the PC connects to the router. Admin is the user id. The factory default password is often "password" or "admin", but check on the manufacturer's site to be sure. Let me know if you have questions about any part of this.

Ihave a linksys wrt54gl v 1.1 wireless modem, reinstalled xp and now cant remember my password. Is there anyway I can bypass or reset the pasword.

In the back of the unit is a button labeled RST. It makes router go back to factory settings. If you haven't the manual, don't attempt to do so, because it still haves the original password when resetted.

Linksy router lem....!!!!

Try the following to reset it to the factory defaults.

Warning! This will reset all the settings in the router! Including any custom setup stuff, like WPA key, etc.

Turn the router on. Press and hold the reset button on it for 30 seconds. The reset button is usually a small recessed button on the back of the unit depending on which model you have.

Now you should be able to connect to it through your browser at http://192.168.1.1. Depending on your model, the username is blank and the password is "admin" (without the quotes) OR both username & password are "admin". Note that you will need to connect your computer to the router with a network cable to go through the setup process - you can't do it wirelessly.
