Question about Boating
I have a 1991 yamaha waverunner wr500p it goes about 5 mph everything looks fine with the impeller nothing tangled around it and not clogged. I cant give it more then a quater throttle without it hitting the rev limitter in or out of the water

you have fouled spark plugs change them all fixed all the newq yamaha sare doing it it is the in thing to do

Something was stuck to the intake obstructing flow.
When you shut it off it drifted away.
It is a good practive when in weedy or heavy debree areas to get clear shut the motor off count to 30 then restart and gradualy excelerate to make sure it is clear. used this method for ten years now and seems to work well for me.

Could be a bad temp sensor. The bog is a rev limiter to keep engine from running full throtle when hot or when there is another problem. You can bypass the temp sensor and see if that takes care of problem. The parts about 100.00. I disconnected mine a now run a temp gauge which I mounted on the right side just above oil gauge.

I dont know the answer but my vx deluxe is doing the same thing. Not as bad as yours but 4k rpm idle.....ANyone?
