Question about Mitsubishi WS-55805 55" Rear Projection Television

The Green Shadow...

My 6 year old Mitsubishi 55” W.S. HD 1080 Projection TV has developed a green shadow around most everything on the screen. This has become very annoying! The only adjustment I can find on the remote is for the blue & red and the factory default convergence setting has little affect. I “want” to remove the back and see what I can find, gun adjustment, settings, cleaning, etc... But I thought I would ask if someone knows of a repair manual or instructions available for a Tech Savvy, but no TV repairman, person on how to make these adjustments? The HD on this unit was UNBELIEVEABLE when I bought it and I really miss it!! I really don’t want to haul this ½ ton crate to the repair shop so if there is a way I can work on it myself PLEASE let me know!!
Oh, is there a way to remove and clean the front screen as well?
Your help would be most appreciated!!

I also have the green shadow that was fixed when turning on IRIS, however even doing that doesn't help anymore and when I adjust the sharpness there is no change to the picture, so I believe if I can fix the sharpness issue it'll solve the green shadowing...Help Mr.!!

SheriDans, I am not an expert or a TV repair person but I do have a WS-55805 like yours and am trying to repair mine. But in trying to do so I did figure out how to remove the screen. So If still want this info here it goes:
Remove the speaker cover by pulling at the left and right edges. It is held by pressure pins. You'll need a philips screwdriver to remove 7 screws. First the 4 screws that attach the cover that is between the speakers. Now follow the wires that come from beneath the center of the screen and into the TV. These wires will be attached to 2 plugs before it goes all the way into the circuit board. Disconnect these plugs. If you notice on the underside of the screen that was hidden by the speaker cover are 3 screws that hold the screen in place. Remove the screws. To remove the screen you'll have put your chest against the top of the screen and put your hands at the bottom of the screen, right hand at 5 o'clock left hand at 7 o'clock, more or less and push up gently. This will release the screen from the clips that is holding it in place at the top. Now you can grab the screen from the sides and remove it completely.
To replace the screen remember to position it an inch or two above the top of the TV and let drop slowly.
Hope this helps.

After having our tv in storage for aver a year, now it has a green shadow to it. What could be wrong/

Not sure I understand what you mean by green shadow. I would check the fluid in the green and blue CRTS and verify they are clear. I would do this if the green color seemed fuzzy or blotchy looking on the screen.

When looking on a blank screen, do you see any arc lines of either green, blue or red? If so, you would need to lower the screen voltage for that particular CRT.

Mitsubishi TV Model #WS65903 - Green Shadow Lines on Screen

Something is not right here--The green is adjustable in the TECH menu--did this person adjust or try to adjust in the customer or the TECH menu?

If you confirm actual model number I can tell you how to get into the TECH menu--yes--green will not adjust in customer menu--it determines geometry and is only adjusted in the TECH menu.

Also, this set requires any convergence adjustments to be done in 480 and then in 1080--if only adjusted in one mode the other will still be bad.

Let me know if you know how to adjust in TECH menu or not--with exact model number I can tell you how to get there.

If this helps you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Good Day;

Sounds like you have bad Convergence Output IC > 267P155010 > STK393-110, replace and it will correct the problem TV uses only ONE, make sure all resistors look good in the circuit around IC.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Green shadow on white objects Mitsubishi WS - 55857 The right edge of white objects have a green shadow that gets larger as the camera pans away. I've adjusted convergence and turned off...

Its been a long time since I did it, but I believe you can adjust the green convergence grid by using the service menu. I found instructions on doing this over on the avsforum message board (years ago) so you might want to search there.

Green shadows surrounding bright whites

finally a consumer that gives us plenty of info :)
sounds like an overdriven green tube, the only thing you can try is to find the G2/Focus block assembly, either behind front speaker grill or remove back of set and look for a black box approximately 5"X5" , this box will have 6 philips type adjustment screws(plastic) 3 are for focus, do NOT adjust these,
the other 3 are marked "screen" the center screen adjustment screw is for green, turn it VERY slowly counterclockwise while the set is running and pray that your problem dis-appears, be advised that this is a HIGH VOLTAGE device so one hand in your back pocket the other hand turns the screwdriver, if the problem does not go away you have a poor green tube, good luck, sorry I can`t give you the exact location of the G2/Focus block, manufacturers move them to different places every year.
