Just got a firecard for my son. According to instructions received, I have downloaded xmenu.dat and fire engine? onto a folder in my documents. Then as instructed we formatted. I beleive that when we plug the ds to the pc via usb, and select menu, we should get a window on the pc screen. I am told that we should then be able to drag and drop the downloaded files accross to this menu screen. Is this correct? all we are seeing on the ds screen is error. Open xmenu.dat error! Please help!

Hey Noel
my fire card did the same to me, you have loaded a virus infected game on your card, you cant get it fixed, ive tried everythin so i called the call centre and they basically said its screwed, sorry im afraid you will have to get a new one or if possible a replacement

Hey Oescobar
email me and i will send you the xmenu, remember to specify

No, you don't have to get a new card at all. Download the 1.5 firmware for it ( i can't get you a link sorry ) and then put xmenu from that into the root folder of the card , and do a full format ( while loading the card press L , R , A , B and down ) then when it has formatted a new DSYSTEM folder sould have been created on it. You can now use it.

Well when i put when i put my ncard in and turn on the ds it is just a blank screen saying error: xmenu.dat

Probably the xmenu.dat is deleted. Best way is to copy all the games (.nds files) and the log files (.sav files) to your computer, reformat the card and copy back the games from your pc to your card.

I did have Error: Data is not align 16k! when i start up my ds.
What I did was..

All the files you need are at www.neoflash.com.
Your need (MK5) v1.45 which is in the download section.

Some of the nds roms do needed unraring before putting on memory card. They should be in .nds format etc.

The files you need are...

DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents
MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds
MK5_PassMe.nds
xmenu.dat

When you have these files THEN you can format by...

Please insert both cards in to the DS and power up, tap the screen to continue as you would for any normal game.

You will then come to the menu "USB Mode" and "Menu Mode"
Instead of selecting one please press and hold the "select button" on the DS then tap "start"

Select "Quick Format"
Once complete restart the DS, you will have to tap the screen as above and this time select" USB MODE"

By formatting the menu file will have been deleted from internal Memory and will need replacing with the files. downloaded from neoflash.com
(MK5) v1.45

DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents
MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds
MK5_PassMe.nds
xmenu.dat

(Drag and drop these files only)

Now your new system is ready, restart NDS and enjoy

Will fix almost all problems with DS Firecard and applies to both 8 and 16gbit.
