That filter kit should be JX81A and you can get it here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

You can get your owner's manual directly from the GE site: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

I don't know how to replace the charcoal filter on my Frigidaire FMV157GC microwave. There's also food between the grate and the glass on the microwave door. Help !

This is billed as the Use & Care Manual for the Frigidaire FMV156DC Microwave Oven:

ftp://ftp.electrolux-na.com/ProdInfo_PDF/Springfield/316495004en.pdf

Not sure it is the correct one but you will find instruction for cleaning the exhaust filters on page 19.

Below is the Use & Care Manual for a model direct from the Frigidaire site:

http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Springfield/316495057en.pdf

This is more helpful as on page 20 it includes illustrated instructions for removing the charcoal filter to change the oven light. Disconnect from power, remove the ventilation grate at the top to access the charcoal filter, slide back and lift to remove. With the grate removed carry out any required cleaning.

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for a similar model:

http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=PSA2201RSS

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40620-1.pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated or the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there.

See page 35 of the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for detailed instructions and illustrations on how to change the oven cavity light.

It reads basically as follows:

Disconnect power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel.
Then remove the top grill by removing the two screws that hold it in place.
Then remove charcoal filter if present. Slide the filter toward the left and pull toward the front to remove. NOTE: Charcoal filter is an optional kit, you may not have one.
Remove the screw holding the lamp shield in place.
Pull the lamp shield out.
Pull the light bulb out and replace with the 120V-130V, 20W halogen bulb.
Order from your GE supplier.
Return the lamp and lamp shield to original position and replace screw and charcoal filter.
Replace the grill and 2 screws then reconnect power to the oven.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

The Charcoal Filter (JX81C) used for non-vented GE Spacemaker over the stove microwave (JVM1540SM2SS) does not fit anywhere (after pulling off the grill).

This of course assumes that your oven has the optional Recirculating Charcoal Filter Kit (part # JX81C available here) already installed.

How to install charcoal filter in ge microwave md# jvm1870 sk04

From the owner's manual, page 37:

To remove the charcoal filter, disconnect power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull
the plug.

Remove the top grille by removing the screws on top of the grille that hold it in place and sliding the
grille to the left (opening the door makes grille removal easier). Slide the filter towards the front of the oven and remove it.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Ventillation of microwave

You mean NNS254? You can download your owner's manual here.

On page 4, it says, "If this appliance is to be vented inside the kitchen, be sure the charcoal filter kit is installed in the unit before you operate."

Also, on page 28, "The Charcoal Filter cannot be cleaned and should be replaced periodically every 6 to 12 months, or more often if necessary."

So the answer is "yes".

Microwave message says to replace charcoal filter. User manual states charcoal filter is used if unit is not vented outside. Our unit is vented outside

External vent systems have the charcoal filter removed, generally at the time of installation, as it is not needed for this application.
The charcoal filter removes odors from internal recycled airflow.
There should be an aluminum grease filter that you can remove to clean in a warm soapy solution, let dry, and reinstall.

How to clean the air filter of my goldstar microwave model # MV1526B/01

That sounds like the charcoal filter. It cannot be cleaned, and must be replaced. From the owner's manual:

CHARCOAL FILTER REPLACEMENT

If your oven is vented inside, the charcoal filter should
be replaced every 6 to 12 months, and more often if
necessary. The charcoal filter cannot be cleaned.

To order a new charcoal filter, contact the Service
Center.

1. Remove the two vent grille mounting screws.
(2 middle screws)

2. Tip the grille forward, then lift it out

To get a new filter, you can try local appliance parts stores or see customer service or find servicers here: http://us.lgservice.com
