Try to boot and at start up press f-10 this should boot to a list of start up options if you have not tryed this boot to last good known confiruration, this will take you to the last place your computer was running before it crashed .the hypen or cursor may indicate the harddrive has crashed and you may need to reinstall the os Good luck
