i think it's a problem with the laser.
Iwant to just make it clear to you, that you can repair the following problemsat home with a good repair guide. There is no technical knowledge needed yousimply do what you see on the step by step vids or the paper guide.
Thebest thing is you get to keep your PS3 guide for life so if something goeswrong in the future you can just review your guide and fix it.

The issue is the Blu-Ray diode. If one disc stops working 100% of the time but the other two types still work (DVD and CD) then the blu-ray diode died. The good news is that a handy person can fix it for about $45. Just do your research and watch a few youtube videos on replacing the laser and opening the case to make sure you are comfortable. I just did it and it was fine. You can buy the laser assembly on eBay, just make sure you go local and get a warranty. Don't buy overseas.
