Question about Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

I have a Canon DC210 that was given to me and works perfectly at first. It charged, and I could video and all, but one day when I wanted to video something, I took it charge cord out and used it but when I went to recharge it, the charge cord would work. I am not sure if it is the cord or the terminal. Can the terminal inside the camera go bad? Is there a part that can be replaced? I checked with Canon directly and they have somewhere that I can send it for them to look at it, and possibly fix it, but it will cost almost as much as the camcorder in the end. Any advise would be helpful!

Well seeing as you said the camera was given to you anyway, so you have paid nothing to be honest right? so yes it is worth spending £80 on to get it mended, if it is as I think just a problem with power supply, you are looking at about £40 max.

I want the pictures and video off my DVD-RW on to my computer

Yes, you must finalize to view the dvd in a stand-alone dvd player.

No, battery doesn't have to be charged but the camera does have to be plugged in to do finalizing.

After, finalizing the disk, and you are in fact using DVD-RW (re-writable) disks, yes you can un-finalize them within the Canon camera to record more video.

I have used the same 3 rewritable disks on my Canon over and over again to record many hours of footage.

well u could make sure the dvd is actually in the camcorder itself and if u still have the manuel for it try going over the instructions to make sure you are working it correctly i know it has alot of features that most dont know or may even not use so go back and read the instruction booklet here is the web site to where u can get a copy of the booklet in case u dont have it anymore http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=361&modelid=14789

Charging battery on a DC210

It blinks red when charging and it goes to steady red when its fully charged.

The best source is to look in the user manual:

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900000562/DC210NIM-EN.pdf

Its on pg. 20, step 5 on the right column.

My Canon DC210 will not turn on. Ithought maybe the battery was dead, so I hooked the camera up to the charger. It's been charging for two days now. But whenever I try to turn it on the "DISC/CHG" light...

You may have a faulty charger or internal battery.

If your camera is still under warranty take it back to the shop where you bought it, explain what is happening, and ask for a refund or exchange.

The DC210 will only work with with Mini DVD -R or -RW. I had the same problem when the BestBuy salesman sold me +RW Mini DVD with the DC210. I went back to the store and got them changed for +RW and I was then able to use the DC210.

It sounds like you may have a faulty battery or charger.

Take the extra battery and whatever you used to charge it (camcorder or battery charger) back to the shop where you bought it and get them to help you figure out what's wrong with their product. Your purchase is still under warranty and you deserve to have a product that works.
