Tip

How to replace a defective LCD screen in a Kodak V803 Digital Camera

This tip is for Kodak V803 cameras that will take pictures fine but you can only be able to see them if you download them onto a PC.

A replacement screen can be easily ordered and replaced. Call Eastman Kodak. Their parts department can be reached at (800) 431-7278 ext 3. Tell them the model number of your camera and tell them you want to order a LCD screen for it. The cost of the new screen is $31.00 + $15.00 shipping. Don't let them talk you into sending it back for repair. You are looking at a repair bill over $80.00.

To replace the screen, remove all of the small philips head screws that are in the chrome band that runs around the center ridge of the camera. After removing the screws, you will be able to separate the rear half of the camera from the front half. The LCD screen is pressed into a rubber gasket in the rear half of the camera. You will see that there is a small, flat orange ribbon cable that connects the old LCD screen to a black connector on the camera's motherboard. Using a VERY small flat blade screw driver, pry up the top tab on black connector. This will unlock the connector and allow you to remove the flat ribbon cable from the black connector.

Remember the orientation of the old screen and its cable as you will want to replaced the new screen and cable exactly the way the original was installed. Using the same small flat blade screw driver, pry out the old display. Install the new display into the rubber gasket into the back half of the camera. Insert the ribbon cable into the mother board's black connector and press down on the panel to lock the cable into place.

Lay the rear half of the camera face down on the table (rear buttons facing down) and place the front half of the camera over top of the rear half. This will allow you to put the camera back together and help prevent the new LCD screen from falling back out. The LCD screen has pads attached to the surface behind it. When you reinstall the front half of the camera, those pads help hold the LCD screen in place with pressure from the motherboard.

Replace all of the screws. If you did it correctly, the camera will operate like new. Last word of advice. Buy a padded hard shell case for this camera. These cameras are well known for LCD screen failures due to shocks and drops.

Hi i have a 1320c that doesnt print the black ink dark enough even after changing the cartridge

Hi,
This is a know error and the only way to resolve is by pulling all 8 sealing ribbons from the PHD unit during first setup and installation? (4 in front, 4 in rear). When you open the printer box. There's also a very good setup instructional video on the CD.
If the 4 rear ribbons are still installed, remove them and print about 20-30 pages. If the print is still faint, you've ruined the PHD unit and you'll need a new one, Dell P/N DT574
Please let us know if you were looking for something else or please accept the solution. Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Brother typewriter

make sure you power on the typewriter and space bar carrier until middle of bar. flip open cover and put ribbon in rear end first then push front to lock. i have to then turn orange knob on top of ribbon cassette in direction that arrow points just to tighten ribbon and that usually will lock the ribbon cartridge if it lock with first push. also, the ribbon itself goes in front of the 2 guides that stick up higher than the rest. hope this helps. if not you can look at brother website under that model and look at manual. it shows you how.

How do you install a new ribbon?

I assume this is a wheelwriter. If so push the blue lever on the rt. side of the ribbon to the rear and lift the ribbon and lift off out of the machine, seperate the ribbon and L/O. Attach L/O to the new ribbon, insert the two "feet" on the ribbon casstte into the slots on the ribbon deck and snap it into place.

Error code 754

It's very possible you are not installing the ribbon properly.
When loading a new ribbon on a Monarch printer, you must save the plastic ribbon core (it's butter yellow in color) from the previous roll of ribbon. The core is what the ribbon is wound up on.
Do not throw away this plastic core - you need it for the next roll of ribbon you load!
You have to move this now empty core from the back ribbon spindle and slide it on the front ribbon spindle. You then load the new ribbon on the back spindle and attach the ribbon end to the empty plastic ribbon core on the front spindle.
You CAN NOT just tape the ribbon to the front spindle. You must have an empty ribbon core to attach the new ribbon to. The printer will give a 754 error unless you have two plastic cores on the two spindles. It can also give a 754 error if the ribbon is not loaded properly, and also if you have a bad motherboard. There are no ribbon sensors, so that's never going to be a problem...

Winding technique:
To wind a new ribbon, take the cartridge housing apart and remove the old ribbon and two cardboard cores. The new ribbon is fitted with the larger roll (the ink ribbon supply spool) at the rear side of the cartridge (as the housing is viewed when it is normally installed into the machine). The ribbon winds over the topside of the rear spool (the supply side) and feeds into the underside of the front spool (the take-up side). Make sure the ribbon is wound neatly, evenly and is tight. If the ink film has become detached or is too loose on the front spool it will not wind on and cause a machine error. If required, use a small amount of sticky tape to secure the ink film to the front cardboard spool and then neatly wind it on to the take-up spool a minimum of five turns, making sure the film does not overhang at the edges. Now reassemble the housing and refit into the machine.
If it’s still not fixed:
If problems persist after fitting a new ribbon, try replacing the entire ink ribbon unit (cartridge housing + a new ink ribbon) using a new, genuine Brother unit before requesting a service; this will be less expensive as the actual housing may have been damaged and is causing the problem and this unit is readily available as a consumable item through sales outlets. If the machine still has problems, book your machine in to be repaired with an authorised Brother Service Centre.

Pioneer deh-p850mp problem

Check the ribbon cable on the inside that connects the two parts.

You will need to remove the faceplate and open up the Rear of the unit.
If you bought it used, theres a good chance that the ribbon is in fact broken. If its new, check the connections on the ribbon cable.

It is a chronic problem with most all PIONEER units that fold down / out.

Best of Luck.
