Question about Canon Pixma iP4500 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer dead. The company electrian has just safety tested my printer, AOK. After attaching the leads there is no power supply although the leads test AOK. The printer is dead, it has minimal use and is only 18 months old.

I've got the ip4500, and it's internal PSU isn't very good. Doesn't like hot an humid environments, after 18 months, it wouldn't start up very reliably. I find unplugging it for 30 minutes, then plugging it in (maybe unplugging for a few seconds, and trying again if it didn't work). Sometimes have to loop this a few times. Once it's up I leave it plugged in, and it's OK for another 6 months.

The power supply brick may be dead. If you can test this with a voltmeter and see accurate power, then I would say the Formatter Board is dead.

Printer will not come on

if you are not getting any power you will need to test all leads that attach to your printer make sure they have a secure seating and are not bad/faulty or just replace them
test the usb lead first then the power lead you can check the power lead by attaching it to another device
You might have to uninstall the printer restart your computer then reinstall your printer
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver, disable, uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options plus you can troubleshoot
scroll to the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click you can select task manager applications also processes you will see whats running on your computer you might have a virus also select users you will see who is using your computer

hope this helps

Solid green light until power button turned on the light goes out disconected power supply from mother board and everything else and plugged it in nothin happens is it dead Jim

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

Teast or Replace your PSU then test all leads that are attached to your hard drive sounds like a faulty lead of some sorts then
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty because a computer has to have an end to the circuit any fulty leads will lead to no boot up

Laserjet 2100 Won't turn on!

Yep, the power cable can be faulty, test a different one on a different socket. Try also playing with the power connector on the printer.

If the power cable is fused, like for example in UK, then check the fuse.

If it still does not give any sign of life, then there is a fault on the power supply board, inside the printer, usually the power supply fuse. Part is about $45 refurbished/$55 original .

If the problem is not the fuse you will need to get a technician testing on board component, and probably replacing a faulty resistor or capacitor.

Dead Epson C84

The power supply inside your printer has failed. Unfortunately the C84 model does not feature a replaceable power supply. Sorry, but when a C84 power supply fails, you have little choice except to extract the ink cartridges and throw out the printer. You asked if this problem could have been caused by switching power at a point other than the switch on the printer. The answer is, "No." It's okay to power-cycle a printer this way. However, if your nickname of "portugal" truly indicates that you actually reside in Portugal, I would consider getting a "line conditioner", which would protect your printer (and your other computer equipment as well) from unfriendly spikes or dropouts in electricity. By the way, in the U.S. the phone number for Epson printer support is (562) 276-7525.
