Question about Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 (U01E200) 200 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

No power!!! ALCON, My Maxtor One Touch 500gb Ext. Hard drive was working fine until a day ago. I moved to another room here while stationed in Iraq and upon plugging the ext. hard drive in, nothing happened. I have tried pushing the button on the front, I have tried many other plugs (also plugged other devices to those outlets and got power). I am unsure what to do and furthermore, am at my wits end as some files on it will extremely hard to replace. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance, Cpl Justin Davis, USMC

My maxtor 500gb usb hard drive is not responding when I plug to my pc, so I can't access to any of my file

hello,
-make sure that the cables from the ext hard drive is properly connected like power if there is and USB -try other USB port -try other USB devices -try other USB cable for that Maxtor -try other computer
the reason why you are doing that is to know if the USB port is broken of if the ext hard drive is not responding.
cheers.

How do I connect the hard drive for Maxtor One touch

Just use a standard USB cable to run from the drive to the computer's USB port, and connect the power adapter from the wall to the drive.

External HDD no longer recognized by new win7 PC

Probably not the right answer for your problem. Mine is an external 1 TB Simple Drive. Mine wouldn't respond at all. I unplugged the power cable from the back of the hard drive and replugged it in and instantly it worked. I had tried rebooting the computer, plugging/unplugging over and over into the computer and that didn't work.

My maxtor 250gb ext drive cant be read

Hi

Sounds like the armature of the drive has prob got damaged or the platters destroyed. If the data is important then maybe look into taking it to a data recovery specialised before its too late.

Do not attempt to pull apart yourself as ideally a 'clean Room' is required along with some pretty expensive kit.

Thanks

I have a Maxtor BAsics 500gb USB ext hard drive. The usb connector has come away from the circuit board. This circuit board can be removed from the main body - Question is ... Can i purchase any spares...

Hi,

You can sometimes remove the connector clean up the sauder and reattach it to the circuit board. If you're handy with a saudering iron it's not difficult.

If you don't own one or aren't so handy I'm sorry to say it's not easy to find spare parts for those. What you can do though would be to take it to a computer store and ask them if they can sell you a new USB enclosure for your drive and they can move the HDD from the maxtor case into a working one.

This should prove an inexpensive solution either way.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

Hard drive is not recognize by the computer

have you tried using it on another computer? if its a plug and play device and it works on another computer, the problem may be with your computer. you have to first try this device on another computer to see if it works or not.
