Camera not found when connected to my PC i have had this camera for a year with no previous connection problems

Blame Windows updates. Start using a card reader.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I misplaced my USB cable for a couple of days and used the card reader in my PC to transfer pictures. Around the same time I uninstalled by previous Fuji software. Ever since that my laptop was unable to...


Right click in My Computer(your D5000 must be connected), click Manage, and click Device Manager, check for some yellow mark(most probably your D5000 has it) right click that one and update, follow the prompt. Hope it helps

I just needed to switch the camera to playback before trying to download photos. Should have read the instructions more closely!

Camera Help!


1. Remove the software- Windows does not need it.
2. Check the batteries are fresh in the camera.
3. Try another lead.
4. if the Memory card is removable- try it in a card reader.
