Hi,

This seems to be a connection related problem between the TV and the DVD. The causes include:

1) It is possible that one of your component video output (red, green and blue jacks) is connected to a composite video input(yellow jack) on the TV.

2) You are using the S-video output while your DVD player's output switch is not on the S position.

3) It could be because of a defective cable.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How to clean the dvp 3005 DVD head player?

Hello,
Cleaning the laser lens
1) Remove any CDs from the unit and unplug all leads. Turn the unit upside down and use the small, flat screwdriver to pop out all the little plastic and rubber screw covers.
2) Take your normal sized Phillips screwdriver and unscrew all the screws.
BE CAREFUL not to damage the eject/power button ribbon cable, as these are very fragile.
Take a cotton bud and careful place some of the alcohol on it (but not so much that it is dripping everywhere). This alcohol is the same (or similar) to the small bottle of alcohol which is in audio and video cassette cleaning kits. This is probably the best way to locate a source. Locate the lens (the circular glass part) and very gently rub the cotton bud around the lens in circular motions for about 30 seconds, being very gentle. Once done, flip the cotton bud over and dry the lens with the other end for about 10 seconds.

You have now completed the cleaning process. This often cures read errors and should always be attempted first. Reverse the dismantling process and put the machine back together, making sure you DON’T TRAP the eject / power button ribbon cable, as this can cause serious problems for you if it happens.
Power on the unit and try to load both a CD. If all works fine then CONGRATULATIONS on completing the guide successfully.

How can I make the DVP 3005 DVD player multi regional

I think you are looking to make your DVD Player, Region Free?? If so, here is a link that has an upgraded firmware that is NOT RELEASED BY PHILIPS, so use this at your own risk. Please read very carefully before attempting any of this. Use at your own risk.

DVD player only plays DVD in black and white - what's wrong?

Ok,
I'm not sure what you mean by digibox. Under what conditions are you able to see things in color? Is a digibox a seperate device you can get to work with the same connection as your player? If one device displays color on the same connection and another doesn't then that seems to rule out the television being the problem. Can you clarify a little more?

Software upgradation

Its called firmware, and you would need it on a disc, you would have to get it from Philips or maybe their website.

Don't download firmware from anyone else but Philips.

No video, only audio

With the first problem i would check the Scart lead to make sure both ends are pushed all the way in, if the lead is in at an angle that can cause loss of colour or picture, and that none of the pins are bent. Failing that try another Scart lead.
Most DVD players need to have progressive scan enabled in the settings menu, are you using a HDMI lead or Video Composite, (5 phono plugs)? HDMI is the better of the two!
