I have a vertical red stripe about 2 inches wide left side of screen top to bottom. It disappears afer TV warms up.

    Jun 01, 2010 - the model # is RU-42PZ61Jun 02, 2010 - Thanks for your response!!

There could be Few Possibilities for this Model :-

1.The problem with your unit-the red strip is caused by a failure of a TCP ic(a driver circuit) inside of one of the ribbon cables, that connects the corresponding address board to the plasma panel!Unfortunately, this ic and ribbon cable is part of the plasma panel and cannot be removed/replaced by itself. The Plasma display panel needs to be replaced.(some techs my attempt to replace the corresponding address board, but it will be waist of time!)The panel replacement will be definitely not economical, panel cost is around-$800+,add another $180-$200 for the labor and you can buy a new HDTV Plasma!!

    2. If it is not Panel, then it is either LVDS or Mainboard or T Conn issue.

It sounds like you have a horizontal deflection problem with your set, this can be caused by many things. Work through the troubleshooting procedures, and you will soon isolate your issue. The manual will zero you in to the problem. Remember always start at the Power Supply, as if that isn't right then nothing else can be.
If you are not going to repair yourself, then please contact an LG, local or head office, and ask for a referral to an authorized service center. This way you are assured of a good job and a good repair, always ask for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair, this way you can make an informed decision, as to repair or replace.

Hi,

I will be happy to assist you with your question.

First of all ,I want to apologize for the bad news I will give you!

The red line, top to bottom on your LCD tv,means that the LCD panel is defective and needs to be replaced. There is no other way to repair this kind of issue, but to replace the Lcd panel.

Out of warranty - It is almost impossible to replace this panel, due to cost of this part.

The panel on this size will easily cost somewhere between $1000 and $1300,and this without the labor fee.Add another -$175 for labor and this repair it will cost around $1400.

This amount is way to much for a 42" LCD ,because exceeds cost of a brand new HDTV LCD same size.

The smartest thing you can do with it is use it as long does not bother you too much, and sell it AS IS(for parts) in places like eBay or Craigslist.com.

If you need I could help you with the LCD panel part#,but it will be very expensive.

Thank you , Have a great day!(sorry one more time for the bad news, but I have to give you the correct information, even though it might not be what you expected).

Green vertical line on videocon 42inch plasma tv

Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?
