I suggest you use HDMI cable for this will gives you high resolution compared to VGA connection and at the same time you wont be needing another cable for your sound to appear at your LCD TV.

If you let me know the model name of your Mac book, i would be of better help to you. Nowadays, most laptop comes with Dvi port (digital video interface) as shown below, and your Tv has the Hdmi (High definition multimedia interface). If you know that your macbook has Dvi port on it, you can buy a cable like this (Dvi to Hdmi) Hi there, what cables would - af1f155.jpg
You can also look at the below images for your better reference. 29bed59.jpg

I hope this helps. Good luck

I think you made a mistake when you say that there's no Dvi port on your macbook. Well you are right, but there should be one dvi port which we call Mini Dvi, to connect tv from this port, there're several options. Please refer to the pictures below:

Mini Dvi To Normal Dvi Adaptor

Mini Dvi to S-Video and Component adaptor

    Vga To Component to TV

This is what exactly the Mini Dvi port looks like on the Macbook

I hope this helps. Once again Good luck.

Hello

Ok, i do the same connection between my computer and HDTV, except, i don't use a macbook. The cables used in doing this is standard, so, all you need to buy is a HDMI or DVI cable.

Although your computer has a HDMI output as well, which carries video and sound simultaneously, the picture quality is the same for both cables.

So, the only restriction you have the the input ports on the TV. If the TV does not have an HDMI or DVI port, you will need to use component.

Here is what the DVI port looks like on the computer as well as the TV.
Hi there, what cables would - 4d40aad.jpg

This is a HDMI port:

628afa9.jpg

So, basically you can use either of the above connections, HDMI carries sound as well, where DVI only carries video.

The cables are very cheap, just be sure what input ports your tv has before you buy.

Hope this can be of help.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards
Andrea

For that you need to purchase HDMI or vga cable to connect to tv.
It's depend on your TV find the HDMI or VGA port on tv then purchase that cable to connect tv to laptop.
Then connect mac to tv then make sure screen reoution is set to 1024*768 then you can get display on tv.
Most of laptop use Fn key + F5 to toggle the screen to external display.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

What is Hdmi used for and how to use it

HDMI is a high definition video/audio cable. It is used on newer tv's and surround sound receivers. You need to make sure that your TV supports HDMI before you can use it.

Hi, First off, I am not very technical. I have a

Your LCD TV has all the modern connections. The best connection between components is through an HDMI connection which outputs audio and video to the highest resolution possible.

You need 2 cables:

1. You would need the HDMI - display port adapter: http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A?mco=MTgxMzM1NzE

2. And an extra HDMI cable to connect from the adapter to your TV.

You can also take your Macbook to a Mac Store to make sure everything works.

The picture on my new 32" does fill the screen. What should I do to correct this problem?

I assume you have pressed the zoom button on the remote control that came with the tv. If you have a cable box or satellite tv box press the # button or hd zoom button or aspect button or format button on that remote control. If you are connecting a high definition cable box or satellite tv box to this television make sure that the high definition cables are connected to the right high definition inputs on the television and that the television is switched over to the right corresponding input. If all else fails and this is just happening on one hd channel it is the hd channel.

Connecting Clearco HD9000 Projector

I'm not familiar with that particular projector, but I believe I can help you get a couple cables to hook them up.

According to some specs I found * the projector has a VGA connection. Next we need to figure out which MacBook Pro you have. Does it have a silver keyboard or a black keyboard? If the keyboard is silver, you need a "DVI to VGA" cable, at least a metre long. You might want a longer one. If your keyboard is black, your MacBook Pro probably has Mini Displayport. That's a bit more exotic, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a "Mini Displayport to VGA" cable.

You can also get adaptors and then use regular cables.

For audio, I believe they're called 3.5 mm stereo plugs. So you'll neet a 3.5 mm stereo plug to 3.5 mm stereo plug cable. Make sure it will be long enough.

Apple sells both kinds of cables. If you want to save money, you might shop around. I don't know UK stores, so I don't know if I can help much there. I buy my cables at www.monoprice.com, an American site.

I want to connect my Macbook Pro (Mac OS 10.5) with my Onkyo Receiver via Toslink optical cable. How could I do?

Hi there,

There is an optical cable that you can buy. It needs to have a MINIPLUG on the one end and a standard Toslink on the other. This will give you the digital audio out of the MacBook Pro.

A company called Proel make the cable you need in varying lenghts.

How to get a high definition Picture??

Hi, first of all you need a high definition source. I'm not sure if your cable box is HD but lets take it as an example. The component leads which you are using isn't 'true' HD video quality, what you need is a hdmi cable from your source to your TV.

Your cable box maybe HD with a HDMI output, if it is then you need the lead to come out of the cable box into your tv's HDMI input using a HDMI lead. Then you switch your TV's source to the HDMI input and it then should be producing a HD quality picture, but to truly get the full HD experience you may want to subscripe to a HD channel or purchase a blueray player becasue most cable TV channels are upscaled to HD and the definition is not as good as on a blue ray disc or a true HD channel.

So in conclusion the cable and input you are using is not designed for HD input. I believe your TV is HD, check for HDMI inputs or DVI inputs.

Hope this explains your problem
