If the error message is ""ink waste absorber almost full"

1) Enter SERVICE MODE By pressing Menu-Scan-Copy-Scan
2) Enter NVRAM by pressing OK
4)Enter ABS-M LEVEL by pressing <--- or ---> then OK
5)SET ABS-M LEVEL TO 0
6)OK
7)STOP/RESET"

If the error message is "" bottom ink waste absorber almost full"
Set "ABS-P" level to 0. Then "OK" and "STOP/RESET"

To clean the absorber, open the cover, and there are 2 small pads under where the cartridges normally sit. Put a pad of absorbent kitchen towel on top of the pad and press down a few times. The towel should absorb most of the ink. To give it a really good clean, turn the printer upside down while holding the kitchen towel over the pads and press a few times. You'll get more ink out.

It's a good idea to wear disposable gloves when you do this.

There are two small absorber pads on the right side of the printer where the printer head cleans itself and where it usually sits when its not printing, I was able to remove these and clean them with water, they couldnt hold anymore ink. I was able to pry the pads out with a pointed toothpick, it was easy enough, but its hard to get back there, since I dont know of an easy way besides the main front access hole where you change the cartridges. resetting the the printer will only fix half the problem since it doesnt acually get to the root of the problem, so this is recommended if you can do it.

Tip

"The waste ink absorber is almost full" message?

This applies to the CANON PIXMA MP130 and other ink-jets made by Canon/Pixma.

According to the user's manual, "Ink used to clean the print head is absorbed by the waste ink tank. When this message is displayed, the waste ink tank needs to be replaced, or the machine requires maintenance". There is no information about how to replace or empty the waste ink tank.

In any case, you can try the following to clear up the error, but eventually you'll need the waste tank to be emptied or replaced. And as far as I know, you can't find the replacement parts to buy, nor the instructions to empty the waste tank.

Turn on your MP130.
1) After that press: Menu - Scan - Copy - Scan or Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy in some models, it depends on the date it was produced)
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Enter NVRAM ACCESS
4) Select SET ABS-M LEVEL TO 0
5) Select OK
6) Keep selecting OK untill you leave the TEST MODE

Then turn it OFF and again ON. Check if the error message is still there.
The following is taken from the Canon website, regarding this specific error:

"Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk."

As I mentioned before, I have not found any way or procedure to empty or replace the waste ink absorber nor the necesary replacement part.

cannon printer pixma mp130/110 waste ink absorber is almost full how do i fix it

'The wast ink absorber is almost full' appears what should I do?

Hello The waste ink take is actually just a felt pad that sits under the printer mechanism inside the case and absorbs the ink from your cleanings.
From what I gather, it’s both a time consuming and expensive proposition to take to Canon to fix.
And they won't tell people how to do it themselves.

Remember of course, you've got to cycle the cleaning process a huge amount of times to get this to occur.

But when it does, there is a fix-it-yourself solution that is both safe and effective for the printer, and free.
You have to be slightly mechanical to do this.
If you you've never used a screwdriver and are all thumbs, but give it a shot or give it to someone halfway coordinated to do this for you.

You may RESET the printer code first if you like or do it after you clean the pad

Here this step by step to resetting waste ink counter printer Canon Pixma MP130

1.You will include printer
2. Press button MENU, then SCAN, COPY and again SCAN - they entered
into the service regime
3. Select NVRAM ACCESS and further BY OK.
4. Select SET Abs- m level and advance value equal to zero
5. Select SET Abs- r level (if there is) and also you will establish into zero
6. You will turn off printer by button POWER.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Can't print on my pixma mp130

This problem can only be fixed by having it serviced by repair technician. It requires the base to be removed absorber pad replaced. This a costly repair, around $90.00 & 10.00 for pad.Technician advised it would be a waste of money especialy if the machine was out of warranty. Printers are quite cheap to by new as against to fixing as in my case.

The waste ink disposal is almost full and it won't print

The waste ink absorber is almost full. Press [OK] to continue but early replacement recommended. <See manual>
WASTE INK NEAR FULL The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink used during print head cleaning, for example. This error message indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full.
Press the OK button to cancel the error so you can continue printing.
Before the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon1.gif service representative. (You will need to replace a particular part of the printer.) Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be performed until the Waste ink tank is replaced.
